We finally decided we could afford a new camera!! After a lot of looking around and considering what features I wanted and the price range we could afford (between $500-$1000 AU, which is half that in US dollars), we finally decided on an Olympus c-720. I know the 730 is out, but the 720 was available for a very good price on Amazon.com!

When the camera arrives and I've gotten the hang of it, I'll start participating here again. Finally, I'll be able to put away that Polaroid thing and do some serious photography! Actually, I'm giving it to my friend Annida, and she might start submitting photos here... so its days on this site are not over yet :).

awesome lisae! i am really looking forward to seeing your shots. i think u will get a whole lot more satisfaction from that camera. esp with that incredible ZOOM !! :)

i briefly bought a c-700 (i ordered my e-10 but couldnt wait, so went out bought a c-700 and then returned it when the e-10 came -- i actually wanted to keep it but couldnt justify buying 2, even tho I loved that zoom) and REALLY liked that camera.

i believe at least one challenge has been one with it as well.. by LANGDON, if memory serves ! :) ... table top challenge or sommat :) ..

Anyway, I'm really happy for you guys. Congrats!

I also bought a new camera, after learning that repairs to my Fuji FinePix F601 would cost $500CDN to replace the lens. I chose the Fuji FinePix S602 Zoom. I was really happy with the F601, but wanted more features (which the S602 provides). I was limited to only a couple of brands to choose from because I did not want to replace all of the storage media cards that I bought while on vacation.

I just received the camera yesterday, and I look forward to resuming my participation here. If I can think up something for the Blue challenge, you may see me back on Monday.

Thanks guys :). I'm really looking forward to being able to take photos that more resemble the vision that appears in my mind, without having to fight my camera tooth and nail to get anything that comes even close (if that makes any sense).

I'm counting the days until it arrives! There's an old warehouse over the road from the school where I'm doing my 3d animation course, and I'm just dying to take some photos of it. Broken windows and graffiti.... yum.
