Then why did we need expert editing to pull it off?

Expert is the extreme end of the spectrum. If you choose to, try it strictly out of camera. I really don't care.

A simple answer would be is that it's my concept.

Interesting idea for an EE challenge.

It is a bit hard to rank places I have not been. Of the places I have been, I would rank them as follows:

1. Angkor (12th century), Cambodia - so many hundreds of temples on such scale, beautiful ruins, impressive in its original scale and as an experience now.

2. Petra (9 B.C. – 40 A.D.), Jordan - jaw droppingly beautiful.

3. The Pyramids of Giza (2600 – 2500 B.C), Egypt - astonishing scale and precision.

4. The Great Wall of China (220 B.C and 1368 – 1644 A.D.) China - hard to appreciate in person, because the impressive bit is its length. But that is impressive.

5. The Roman Colosseum (70 – 82 A.D.), Italy - v impressive for its age, still beautiful.

6. The Eiffel Tower (1887 – 89) Paris, France - great beauty, much taller than you think (tallest man made object in the world at the time of its building, the tallest human made structure since the pyramids),

7. The Alhambra of Granada (12th century) , Spain - beautifully formed, but the palace is a bit on the small side

8. Stonehenge (3000 B.C. – 1600 B.C.) Amesbury, United Kingdom - amazing given the period, but trading on its age rather too much: a little underwhelming in person.

9. The Statue of Liberty (1886) New York City, U.S.A. - trading on its cultural significance a little, I think: it is underwhelming as a structure in person.

I look forward to seeing a few more of these in the near-ish future, esp.:

a. The Acropolis of Athens (450 – 330 B.C.) , Greece

b. Machu Picchu (1460-1470), Peru

c. Statues of Easter Island (10th – 16th Century) , Chile

d. The Pyramid at Chichén Itzá (before 800 A.D.) Yucatan P., Mexico

e. The Taj Mahal (1630 A.D.) Agra, India 21. Timbuktu (12th century) Mali

Whatever dude. It's your concept so we need expert editing to pull it off but it's also possible to do it straight from camera no matter where you are in the world. Yeah, makes a lot of sense.

Your a very angry person, aren't you?

Taking this whole thread kind of personal aren't ya?

Expert, or minimal, who the f... cares.

Come up with your own concept 'dude'. You can do that right?

What concept are you talking about? You're saying that expert editing is required for this challenge but have yet to provide a reason why.

I can try. Can you put the lid on the bottle long enough to make some sense?

Like cpanaioti and many of the others here I am trying to get what you are saying just in case this idea is used for a challenge. You act like it's not that difficult to understand but we are sure having a tough time figuring out why we would need expert editing to pull it off when you now say it's possible with minimal editing. Does that really make sense to you?

OK.

Long form.

In the neigborhood that you live in, the place you call home, using images of the surrounding area within your mailing address, show what could be one of the 7 wonders of the world in your realm called home.

expert rules.

Is this more clear?

Wanting and needing expert rules are two different things.

Also, what was the need of the list of wonders if the idea to photograph what, in our area, could be considered a wonder? Maybe for something to compare to. A link to the wonders would probably help more than just listing them. Just my 2 cents.

This is why there is so much discussion about challenges once they're posted. Lack of clear definition.

Thanks for finally coming up with the text to indicate what you 'want' to see as a challenge.

If I understand Horse correctly he is saying to photograph what is local to you...but to photograph a LOCAL landmark which is a LOCAL substitute for one of the natural wonders of the world.

In that way it does not really matter if it is expert or minimal editing because you are just shooting something that is local. (a natural wonder of your local world)

Is that correct Mr. Horse?

Replace Stonehenge, it is just a tourist trap now and has no atmosphere. Put Avebury, about twenty miles north of Stonehenge, the largest stone circle in Europe in its place. Half a mile away is Silbury Hill, largest man-made mound in Europe and West Kennet Long Barrow, a three hundred foot long burial mound. Built around same period as Stonehenge, it has much more mystic about it.

There's no way I'm going to be able to go back there anytime soon though. That was taken in 2005.

I think that's what he's saying now but when he said "needs to be in the expert rule set to pull it off" I think it threw all of us. Especially when he eventually said that it didn't NEED to be expert. I'm still having trouble with that one.

Of course, I am unable to come up with an original idea and I must be an angry person since I didn't understand it well to begin with.

Ring of Brodgar is another option. Just take a short trip to the Orkney Islands.

Agreed! UK and Ireland have so many ancient sites that it is hard to choose. Northern France also has a wealth of wonders, Carnac springs to mind.

I use the Unesco list to plan holidays but the problem is that the Unesco list keeps on getting several sites longer every year - it is almost impossible to catch up!

Angkor, Easter Island, Great Wall, Machu Picchu, Petra, Pyramids of Giza, Taj Mahal
