Hi all,

I've been looking into lenses for my Canon gear, and I've setup a comparison chart of some of (what I perceive to be) the most popular.

I don't intend it to be an exhaustive list (i.e. there are no primes for now, and very few off-brand) - just some of the more common lenses in a few categories comparing the features I care about. Maybe at some point I'll turn this into a webpage with slick filtering options.

I thought this info might be useful to others.

Cheers,
-Jeff

Might be a clearer presentation to have an EF-S column rather than EF. EF-S being the rarer of the two.

Nice chart.

I guess your category of 'Super-wide' depends on whether you are using a full frame body or not. If so, the 16-35 would go in that category. Great chart. This consolidates weeks and weeks of lens obsession into one chart.

Missed the check mark for IS next to the Canon 100-400mm. Great chart, quite useful for all the what lens should I get threads.

I thought EF was the "feature", because they'll fit the 5D if you go that route, whereas EF-S won't. However, for the non Canon models, I'm not sure I got this right...

As for the super-wide category, you will have to take your camera into account. On a FF, the Sigma will be super-ultra wide, and the 16-35 and 17-40 might not work great as walk-around lenses. =)

Thanks, Sameer - fixed it!

It can go either way of course but I would lean toward router's thinking in this case. The X should be more of a warning that this is an aberrant lens.

If you decided to develop it further a column marked IF would be useful to those of us that hate push pull zooms.
