I ran into this little fellow while scouting for subject for the "Desolation" challenge. The poor bird was very skinny and seemed hungry. He followed me around and even poked my shoes and tripod. I felt very sorry for him, he was obviously only a chick and had no idea how to find food. I just hope he survives the winter.

ohhhhhh poor thing! I prolly shouldn't have looked. I find things like this haunting. I wonder if there is an animal rescue organization in your community. Here we have some wildlife rehab folks to call. I hope someone helps him.....sighhhhhhhhh :-(

Can you go back there with some food for him/her?

Well, Olyuzi, I am planning to do so, but OTOH, I do think that wild animals should be... well, wild. I will check up on him, he was very bold, picking on my clothes and trying to swallow my finger. :)

Jon, I know what you mean and sort of agree. He IS a wild animal. It's just that if he was orphaned, I'd just like to see him get a break. But otoh he could be a meal for some other unfortunate critter.
I used to come across injured and orphaned wildlife all the time in the Catskills. There were so many times I ran up vet bills, and stayed up feeding the patients, and ended up losing them anyway. So sometimes it's best to leave them. I just had a hard time turning away from an animal in need. I was always torn. So I just prayed "God, please don't let me even find these animals any more. It's too painful." It worked!!!
One time only a few years ago, I was on a back country road, cruising at a slow clip, and I collided with a bird. He fell to the ground. I picked him up, and he was limp. I felt terrible! I cried. My husband and I prayed, and he lifted his little head. I continued to pray, lifted my hand and said, "Here God, he's yours, in your hands, and I know you care for the sparrows." Suddenly he flew off! Those happy endings make my heart sing for joy!

Possible problem, the bird is a raven, a Corvid, highly likely it has West Nile Virus and will die from it. Van
