where do you find yours? do you advertise? there are two photos I *really* want to take, but I live in a small town and can't pay anyone to sit for me, so I can't take these two shots .... |

By the way, just a plug for my own page on Model Mayhem. See if you can figure out who the model is in the Friend's Section (Monica, currently top row 3rd image from the left).

And now she's the fourth "friend" over, on the top row. :-)
Nice to see ya out there. I really don't do much with MM, but it's kind of fun to get together with a couple of MM'ers every now and then.

Yeah, I'm not very active there either. It seems every time I offer to do anything with one of them, they get skittish, maybe I should stop offering to help fill out the newbies portfolios :/ |

Yeah - the same thing happens here too, but I just go on to work with the confident ones & don't worry about the rest. It's interesting how we 'click' with certain people & the shoot goes well! (BTW - I viewed several of your ports & sent friend requests!)
Ooops, sorry to get off track... there is always OMP & MySpace. Even if someone's profile doesn't mention wanting to model, often the 'beautiful people' are interested in letting you photograph them. Think about it - MySpace really should be called My<narcissistic>space LOL I have found 3 people to model from MySpace just in the last week, and they are THRILLED to do it (though you do have to be confident in posing, etc, as they usually aren't skilled in such things - makes for great practice & learning!)

Geez! Thanks for the Model Mayhem suggestion David! I live in a college town so I had 3 pages of young models with a huge variety of needs and interests. I was thinking of placing an ad in the local college paper, but I guess I don't have to. |

ModelMayhem is a nice site and you can get models there. But, I've found Myspace a much better resource. All ya gotta do is ask, all they can say is no. Just put some of your work on there so they can see it. I have mine in a folder called portfolio.

myspace works like hell for me... but than again, I don't go there to 'show some love' to every flake on there. Yeah, it seems out of a couple dozen people who 'said' they wanted to shoot with me, only one came through.
modelmayhem does work slightly better for me, but than again, I don't go around rubbing egos.
Guess it all comes down to style though, I don't really shoot the everyday heres the booty type of images, so less people want to shoot with me.

So I assume this has worked pretty well for you then? Are these paid models we're talking about? I know probably a stupid question but ya never know unless ya ask!

Mostly TFCD... and since most of them are true amateurs... low res is just fine :-)

TFP = Trade for Print ... old skool. You give the model prints for modeling.
TFCD = Trade for CD. You give the model digital photos on CD for modeling. A lot cheaper for you :-)
LOL = Laugh out loud... just so ya know ;-)
