out of boredom, i just calculated my average for the six 'free study' challenges i've entered since i've been on dpc.
i think free studies are the most competitive and possibly the hardest scored challenges. but i could be wrong.
anyways, dating back, my scores have been (earliest to most recent) 4.7347, 5.4746, 4.4225, 5.5604, 5.6868, 6.5088. (at least it's a somewhat upward trend.) that averages 5.3980.
how's your free study scores?

| Only started challenges last month, so my first was a 5.0. I guess i'll have an average starting with tonights rollover :) I'm much happier with this picture than I was the last since I've picked up alot in the last month. We'll see though. |

| This is going to be my first free study. I think I was too nervous before to have free reign over my creativity :) But I'm very proud of my entry, so we'll see! |

| Sounds good rain. I got uncles retirement party today, and lady from work wants me to come shoot her son's first all-star baseball game tomorrow afternoon and possibly invest in starting a business so let me know whenever. Weee possibly someone buying me better lenses :) |

Im shooting a birthday party tonight in 35mm.
My free study entry is in hopefully itll be my best ever. |

Best Finish: 13th (last one)
Worst Finish: 207th (first one)
ETA: Best ofs should also count but I didn't factor those in. Scored a 5.3 in one and a 6.88 in the other.

I'm entering my 1st tonight...
As it looks, the scores in free studies are noticably lower than the other challenges. I'll see how I do. ;-) |

It's an interesting aspect to the site in that you can't just rely on having a clever take to a theme to carry your wow factor. The photos that do well here will always stand tall outside of the challenge which is something you can't always say about the themed challenge winners, relatively speaking.

Been entering them since Sept. '06. Looing at the scores now I think I did better than expected. nice suprise.

I've entered seven times - including one dismal effort that I didn't really intend to submit.
The average so far is 6.44 (not accounting for variations in votes recieved between the challenges).
I've got a 4th, a 5th and an 11th which is kinda cool.
