I was going through old prints from when I was in the Navy. Back in 93 the ship was leaving NY harbor after spending Fleet Week there. Had a blast. When I shot this photo I didn't think much about it at the time. I knew I Had a great shot and it went into my portfolio and there it has stayed. I love it for the distortion and the fact that this was the first time I had ever seen NY this clear. I shot with a Canon F-1n with a 24mm lens. I was shooting with Ektar 25 film. Still my fav film but they haven't made it in years. Like 15 or so. After the events of 9/11, this shot became so much more to me, I have wanted to share this photograph with others but have been always afraid of the feelings it might provoke. I don't really have an explanation as to why I want this seen now, I just do. Enjoy.

I think it's an amazing capture. And the image brings to memory all those we lost at 9/11. It's good to remember, even if it is painful. It brings honor to those who have died. Thannk you!

I love the shot! Have you thought of trying to submit it for use in the 9/11 memorial? I agree with WriteHeart, it is good to remember and honor those we've lost.

With all the trouble London has been having the last few days with terrorists I think we'd do well not forgetting. That is a very sad photograph. |

I don't have any personal involvement with any memorial or groups advocating any memorial(s). I did a quick google search and found these:
//www.buildthememorial.org
//www.fdnytenhouse.com/fdnywall/index.htm
//www.projectrebirth.org/
//www.911families.org/index.html
You would likely want to research any group you would consider dealing with before contacting them.
Good luck and great photo!
