A whale tail is when the back of her thong underwear shows over the back of her hip hugger jeans. I hope you did not take my comment to mean I was talking about you, as I was not. I just have seen too many teens sporting the lower back tattoo, and they mostly wear the low jeans and crop tops in order to shock their elders. |

Someone at work has told me he is getting a new tattoo next week and invited me to take photos. Anyone ever shot a tattoo in the making? Any advice? |

Everything Steve-o
WARNING: Some people might not like what they see in the photo's on this page (Steve-o is one of the guys from Jackass). Fairly NSFW or minors for that matter.
So that aside - check out Steve-o's tat's - personally i like the one of "Your Name" tattooed on his ass, and second place goes to the obscenity that is his self-portrait on his back ;)
ETA - dont have one myself, nor would i really ever get one i dont think... just dont want to be old and wrinkly and have something stupid on my arm. If i were to get anything it would be full upper thigh-torso-shoulder black tribal "flame" design (similar to the one George Clooney has runing up his arm in Dusk til Dawn). But that would probably hurt too much so probably not then ;)

Identifying marks in a crime... And you could just happen to have one similar to the real perpetrator....
But one in the spirit of the thread from the B&W comp during Laconia Bike Week.

I have enough guts to get my bikini line lasered, and my eyebrows threaded, and used to have electrolysis. But have heard that getting a tat hurts like hell. I know it partly depends on where you get it, but seriously, how bad is the pain? I know you have to take care of the tat for a couple weeks after it's been done.
Have considered getting a tat for a lonnnnngg time, I didn't like most flash I saw so I designed one years ago that I'd like to get put on left shoulderblade so not just anyone would see it.
I thought a 'tramp stamp' was a tat at the base of spine....so would that not be a whale tail?
Edit: I met a guy who had incredible tats, full sleeves, all very visible, but when I asked if I could take pictures of them he went and got all camera-shy on me. Ummm...if you have so many tats but don't want to show them off, what's the point?

They feel good (-; ok, some might sting for a second, but also depends where it is.
I agree whats the point if you don't show them off?
I always thought a 'tramp-stamp' was a hickey... goes to show what I know.
Taking care of it is no big deal, mostly keep it moist and out of the sun. I have used bag-balm and stuff which works good as well as 'the new silver solution'.
Seriously, the pain is nothing, and addicting. I say go for it. Have fun.
I currently have 6 but I want to get more, I have images somewhere... dA, and my website I believe but they are not on here right now.
dA - Smokescreen Someone recently wrote a short story that was inspired by my 6 tattoos. Each part has a different image. So if you want to see, there ya go.

Addicting is the key word there ... tattoos are addicting, the pain isn't bad at all ... you get over it really quickly ... then want another ... |

Pain? There is no pain. Seriously, I have tattoos on my arms, neck, shoulder blades, chest, elbow...you get the point. Surprisingly, the two on the chest 'hurt' the most and it was not a pain so to speak, but the feeling of the vibration all over as opposed to being just on the skin. Closer to bone, more sensation. On areas where there is a lot of padding between the bone and the surface, feels like a rug burn. |

Yeah, I was wondering if the lack of padding in shoulderblade area would make it more difficult to tolerate. You're not supposed to move, right? How do you overcome involuntary muscle twitches? |
|
|
09/12/2008 09:19:35 PM · #69 |
No, do not move unless you want your tat to look like a blurry photo.
As far as involuntary spasms, I never had any and the urge to move after the needle hits you goes away quickly as you realize you are not going to drop dead from pain. usually, and if the person applying the tat is good, they will touch you with the needle with black ink (the first to be applied) in a way as not to impair the design, as in on a line. If they are worth their salt, from then on you will have no problems.
DO NOT get a tattoo from just anyone! Do your homework. Just because someone has a shop that applies tattoos does not mean their tattoos are good. |
