I received this message on Amvona and I was wondering if you think it seems legit or like someone wants to use my picture? I'm new to the site so I'm not sure what is common practice.

"Hi Alecia, I work for Amvona.com. I just wanted you to know that we really love you image called sillohuette, and we want to put it on the homepage as part of the rotation. However the image is too small. Could you please upload the same image but with a width of 780px? And let me know when you have? Thank you so much! Jessica Costa IT Web Designer Amvona.com "

Thanks,

Alecia

Not sure, I have had some of my flickr images (specifically some DC shots) use on some online enws sites, but they always email me and then we work the license through the creative commons license i used on flickr.

No problems so far but if their looking for something id look for a site to route the transaction through, dont give it up.

I looked at the site and it look legit. However, it seem like they want to use your picture for a "for profit" site. I would say it is up to you if you want them to use it for free. Maybe you could work of some "low cost" option for them if they give you credit also.

Also...I would stipulate that "you" still own the photo and the rights.

So they want to have you do something and not even ask permission? Giving you directives and asking you to tell them when you comply with their desire ... all for their benefit? Heck no, this does not sound very honest to me. Now if they asked for permission it may be something to think about.
.
edit: Just looked at their site...what in the heck are they for? Seems slow and unorganized. After a couple of minutes was not sure what their purpose is. If a site doesn't explain within 15 seconds on their purpose they are bound to fail.

I dunno. If they were going to yoinck the image they would ask for a lot bigger pic than 720 px. Just me thoughts...
