I just downloaded the demo for Neat Image. Is the demo lacking any options compared to the registered version? Also, is their any time limitation on the demo? Can anyone answer this for me? Thanks(ver 5.8.0) |

It limits to saving the files in low resolution (works perfect for entering challenges at DPC as it reduces the file sizes considerably)
Also I believe it has less options to remove noise and sharpening.

No features limitation, no time limitations. The only difference between the demo and the full version is that the demo doesn't have adjustable jpeg size, and can only save in jpeg. But the jpeg's are saved at high enough quality so that jpeg artifacts don't appear, and since i always shoot in raw and have high image quality to begin with, I haven't seen reason to buy the full version.

I've just tested the file size reduction, and neat image demo saves images at around the photoshop equvilent jpeg 8 0r 9, which is fairly good quality.

That must be fairly new. When I tried the Demo a couple of years ago the compression was horrible. It worked for some images but not all.
Could be I wasn't using it correctly though. |

Nope, not user error, you're correct. It used to save only in very highly compressed form. It sounds like it's much better now; I don't have first-hand knowledge, I own the paid version.
ETA: The paid (plug-in) version is worth it just to be able to run it on selections, individual channels, or layers. I'd never go back to stand-alone.
