The difficulty with blinded validation is when we need to get in touch with the photographer for more details (or they need to get in touch with us) or we want to know if they've signed on during the 48 hour period during which they are to submit their original, etc., etc. If we don't know who it is, we can't do that. We also wouldn't know other small details that can sometimes prove useful like english not being their first language or that they travel between countries/timezones, etc.

That's cool. The 'contact' SC member should know. But something that requires a general vote - identity might not need to be an issue. Sorry, just something I've been thinking about in tandem with the friend voting issue.

so if you send in your original do you get a confirmation or somethign if your photo is validated? how long do you need to wait before you know if it has been disqualified or not?

I usually skip voting on shots that I know how they were done, if I think that knowing the "extra" information will skew my vote (in either direction). Or, I try to vote before looking at the dq requests.

Yep, it might be persecution or, you see, During the Religion Challenge you converted by Black & White. It may be the Powers wanted to be sure your conversion was not a 'sometime thing.'

If it's your image, you get an email and on the left under your score a notification that it's been validated.

If it's one you've recommended for validation then you may not see anything since the validation message is not put on every image where a request was made.
