thank you all for your comments on my last challenge.
it's weird now for me. i'm going to be submitting more but it will all be material from the shows i shoot and probably not standard dpchallenge type work at all.
i doubt i'll be scoring very heavily.
maybe i should be put on my own team to keep from dragging entropy down.
i'm in it for splash of color and free study.
we'll see how it goes.
chris.

I just had some dental work done, and while it was easier on me than getting my wisdom teeth yanked out, the lingering pain has distracted me from getting any photography done. Results and scores will get posted tonight, the rest of Team Minus will have to carry me along for a bit.

Sorry I haven't been around here much, either.
Congrats to Deb for a spate of wonderful shots being recognized by the voters (you've always done great shots, they just haven't always been seen); hope the skill there rubs off on how life decisions are being made in your behalf.
RobM, take it easy; we're alright if scores come once you're feeling a bit better;
I'm in for the free study (first time since the turn of the year, when I didn't do well at all) and for burst of color (actually a bit worried that people will think the title is the one I've seen used on the forums, "Splash of Color", which doesn't fit my image at all; we'll see, I like it).
Been voting Waldo (which I am not in); done voting, not a single score below a 6, and am going for a complete comment to get my comment received/given ratio close to being back up to snuff (will need to comment more after I'm done, there aren't enough images for me to catch up)! Some really delightful and really interesting images in that challenge! Interesting to me to see who let the theme overtake the image, and who entered an image almost in spite of the challenge (yeah, there's a person there, but the image rocks).
Anyway, will try to be around more now that life is settling into normal again!
Best,
RobH |

Jeanne: glad to hear you're making progress.
Christian: welcome back from the darkness.
Deb: again, congrats on the ribbon!
And at loooong last, I have some good news of my own: my shot Double Spiral is a finalist on betterphoto.com in the Elements of Design contest for May. :)

First and foremost, congrats to DPL Team Out of Focusers - all Suckers - they won their division!! Woo and hoo!
I apologize for my momentary lack of suckage, but I will say that I've not really been doing anything all that much differently than before. Having a team help me pick which shot to enter has helped tremendously, I think, and I've learned a thing or two about processing. Hopefully everyone else hangin' on a DPL team experienced much the same.
That said, I will also say that my favorite place at DPC remains here with Team Suck. :-)
Finally, a public service announcement: should you find yourself faced with a turnstile, which may or may not be springloaded with the force needed to launch a jet from a carrier deck, PLEASE ensure that the camera bag you are carrying on your left shoulder will not impede your progress into the turnstile ever so slightly, but just enough to allow the arm coming up to whack you quite firmly in the ribcage just below your insubstantial boob. And given that the rib (should you allow this to happen) is very most likely cracked, I would suspect that it would hurt. And by the way, it hurts a lot more the third and fourth days. Not that I would, umm, know from experience or anything... (Owww....) |

Ouch. Like, really. Ouch. Hope that's better soon.
Yes, congrats to Team OoF and the Team Suckers who make it up, but I'm actually rather sad that it seems my team (EuroSquadron) will be going up against them in the playoffs (at least from what I can make of the playoffs thread). I like the members of Team OoF, I don't want to compete against them. Our team has a very sucky attitude, by the way, exhibited by the encouragement I got to enter my "White Horse" shot in the username challenge. We belong together, not competing. Maybe our two teams (both in the Global League) could take on the two winning teams from the World League . . .
Hmmmm.

Yes, despite my level of suckiness, the OOF group prevailed. Thanks to all my suck league teammates for their hard work.
Look at it this way, even though we play EuroSquadron, at least a team with a Suck League member or members, will advance to the second game in the playoffs.

Well said, Mary. :)
Deb, sorry to hear about your injury - who knew turnstiles could be so sinister? Hope the pain subsides soon. |

Yow! We have those kinds of things in my building here, except they're at groin level and swing up, and it's no fun getting smacked by one of them if they close early.

RobM, no offense intended, but I'm going to have to stop reading your posts. They hurt too much. Teeth pulling, turnstiles to the groin; what will you come up with next?
Ouch. Really.
Best,
Rob H.

Yowza! Hope you heal quickly, Deb.
Congrats to both suck teams in the DPL playoffs and good luck in the first round!
Congrats also to Deb, who averaged 0.5 above her seed average, and Catherine who beat her seed average by 0.3. Whereas I was 0.0009 below.

I'm off to the real beachhouse for the next few days. If you see the sea through rain that will probably be me. |

Have fun, Mary! Hopefully the weather will give you a break while you're there. If not, I kinda like the beach in the rain - a whole lot less crowded and kinda peaceful. |

Yippee! My betterphoto.com "finalist" has turned into a "second place." :)
Although there seem to be 10 2nd place shots. Shrug. I'll take it, given there were thousands of entries in that category! :)
Oh, and I just made my 4000th comment!

Hi all
First of all, I have absolutely nothing for this week, been busy with work...yes too busy too even take pix or at least challenge ones...unless I can scramble together a scifi shot from a bunch of weird pics I took this weekend past...
JerseyGenie said it all, congrats to those celebrating and owww! Deb, being of the relatively boobless persuasion myself, my heart goes out to you. Gotta hurt, get well soon...unless a boob injury will get you out of warm places?...hopelessly behind on the thread.
Well gotta go, will try to do some yapping and voting later on this week. |
