Hi all,
I'm thinking of getting one of these eventually, along with the 30" moon unit, and I had a question. With your camera mounted on this unit, is it hard to zoom in and out? I know your lens goes through the hole in the middle (obviously), but from the pictures on their site it looks like it might be cumbersome to operate the zoom on your lens. My main camera / lens combo I would be using with this would be a Canon 5D with a 24-105 lens. Anybody have experience using this combo with the AB ringflash? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I've got the Ringlight and it work great, It is cumbersome no matter what lens you use, but still functional. The light itself slides forward on a track so that it allows you to access the focus and zoom rings. I haven't had a problem with vignetting.

I have been thinking about that myself. I just wish they would get some better example photos on the AB website. The King and Queen Bee's kind of scare me. lol I have a beauty dish for my ab-800s I cut my own stencils out of black paperboard and made my own moon unit set up. I have a star and a cresent moon. Have not had time to really test them properly but I plan to do so soon.

I agree! Those shots don't do them any favors. They're great people, I'm sure. But as models? Well, um, yeah... :) If you get Rangefinder magazine (great mag, and it's FREE!), you will see an ad in it where they use some VERY attractive models using the ringflash and some regular AB strobes. Why they don't put that on their site is beyond me. And thanks, Geocide. I didn't know about the track, as it is hard to tell from the pix on their site. Anybody else use this light? Example pictures would be great, too.

They are definately great people and run a top notch company. With exceptional customer service I might add. But modeling is certainly out of the question.

They also use themselves at the bottom of every full-page ad for the Moon Unit.
