Thanks Pam, I agree. I've taken many pictures of my co-worker and her family. She's building up quite a collection on her living room wall. :-)

I like the baby picture the best out of the whole group. It's just an excellent shot, very professional.

This isn't the one you were looking for (as a B&W), but since I had already printed this one for the couple, I'll share it as well:

Not to threadjack, and this is a sloppy fast version, some time and finessing would give a better result, but somethin like this:

Okay, I'll think about it a bit ... and ask the couple if they wouldn't mind. :-)

Hi David,

I put some picky comments on a couple, but as usual they're great pics..

Trivia Q: Did you use a MUA for mother and friend of your daughter? Or did they turn up with perfect makeup?

I've had a couple of nightmare sessions recently with odd/poor makeup, and don't have a MUA available, and I suck at it myself... :-).

Cheers, me.

Unfortunately, I've never had the pleasure of working with an MUA.

I was looking through Model Mayhem portfolios one time and noticed that the "best images" are often found in MUA portfolios. I mean ... models are hit and miss, so are photographers, but if an MUA is involved at all, the quality of the shoot goes up, and guess who has access to all of those pictures?

Another quick trivia Q, not so much about the images..

Do you get a general model releases to put these on the net? I don't post portraits on the web unless I've specifically asked the people for permission.

Just curious.

All of these people know that I post the images on the internet (that I share the images with others). So it's no surprise to them. But no, I haven't had any of these people sign model releases.

The only times I've had people sign model releases have been when I am either: a) working with a model, or b) working with someone on a shoot where I plan to sell the pictures for stock (i.e. people who aren't normally models but who are functioning as models for that specific shoot).

Ya, I have a friend who does stunning portrait work. One of his trade secrets is that he has a very good make up artist on a retainer.

My paid portrait work is generally children, who don't need makeup in general, but rencently I've had a few more inquiries from adults and teens.

So, if there is anyone reading in the Ellesmere area (Canterbury, New Zealand) who can weild a powder puff and eyeliner well, PM me!
