Wouldn't that also mean that it would be hidden until the end of time? |
That depends on the viewer.

So if I see it, it's not considered hidden? |

Maybe I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure Waldo is not hidden in those books but rather hard to spot. What I don't like about this challenge is that you can't hide waldo in a crowd. That would at least force the photographer to have to get creative to do well and not rely on simply shooting a pretty landscape and putting someone in the shadows to meet the challenge. We get those types of images almost every challenge as it is. I guess I am tipping my hand as to which shots won't get any extra points from me. :P

I was trying to pull a leg or two as I don't understand how you can hide something and still see it. Defies my logic.
I don't know what Waldo is. I don't know about the books some mention. I read the details of the challenge, and as far as I am concerned, there's no book.
I have never heard of the books - yeah, one of those uncivilised people :)
Just trying to get some idea of how others see it. Not looking for any answers.

I understand your reasoning. Here are the previous two challenges. These may help you with some ideas that are within the challenge boundaries.
Where's Waldo I
Where's Waldo II

The idea of Where's Waldo is to hide something in a very visible place, but blending in with his/her environment in such a way that they are not visible at first glance (or even second glance). Similar in a way to camouflage.
The Waldos in the books tend to be hidden in large crowds.
It's sort of like putting something very much in a visible place, but making it blend in, so that when the casual observer looks, they don't see it, at least not at first.
Like saying, "Oh, look, what a beautiful picture of a mountain path! Wait!!! There's a person there! Wow! I didn't see him at all, he blends right in with the mountain." And Yanko will give you a low score for that :)
Hope this helps.

Except that the Wally/Waldo books are usually packed full of crowd images in which Wally/Waldo is hidden... this challenge requires an "otherwise personless" image... "Hide a person in your otherwise person-less photo." |
Unfortunately that's true. I don't get why the description continues to be worded that way. It makes the challenge anything but. |
So maybe on "Where's Waldo IV" it should be someone dressing like Waldo in a crowd. SC? |

Taken in winter on Sorak San, Korea. Lucky shot, I never saw the people on the slope. This pic is not a good one, I know, but shows the 2 'Waldos' in real life. |

I'm in for Waldo. I suspect that 50% of voters will never see him. So if they can't find him, will they give me a low score?
Regardless of my score, its certainly a fun challenge. :D |
