Yeah, and I can recall a cartoon "Where's Wally?", it was a very funny one:)

Well you know us Yanks have to change the pronunciation of everything...
What Wikipedia Says

Reading under the "Where's Waldo" entry I discovered that the American Waldo is identical to the British Wally but: "Although Waldo and Wally are identical in appearance, their characters and personalities developed differently - Waldo became a hip and tech-savvy American world traveler, while Wally became intellectual and somewhat goofy." (Sounds like someone's living in an alternate reality if you ask me. ;-))

Wally Fun Facts

In America, Wally is known as Waldo; in Germany, he's known as Walter; and in France, he's known as Charlie.

A very accidental shot, 3 days before the announcement.

Except that the Wally/Waldo books are usually packed full of crowd images in which Wally/Waldo is hidden... this challenge requires an "otherwise personless" image... "Hide a person in your otherwise person-less photo."

Hide someone. Hide properly. If you do a good job, no one will see.

Unfortunately that's true. I don't get why the description continues to be worded that way. It makes the challenge anything but.

I think the person has to be seen but not easily, otherwise I would think it wouldn't meet the challenge...yea it says hide a person but how are you really gonna know someones there if you hide them too well. IMHO I think too many people are going to try and hide the person completly. I think it's more like the camouflage challenge then where's waldo.

One of the other threads about this has a very good example, it has a person up in the upper third of the image but he is sitting behind a railing so you see him but he doesn't steal the scene.

The challenge asks to hide a person. If the person is not hidden, how would it meet the challenge?

I guess it depends on your level of hiding someone, I'm just afraid too many are going to make the person completely invisible thinking that is hiding them, but if you can't see that there is actually a person in there then you have gone a little too far.

But ... if you can see the person can you also say you have hidden the person?

....hidden the person from the initial view...but for the ones that take the time with the images...they will find the person. Therefore you have hidden the person..but is still able to be found.

Initial view would not be the same for everyone. What I notice first may not be what you notice first. What I see may not be what you see.

....and that my friend is the beauty of this challenge....being able to produce an image with a desire to view and yet to keep something hidden for as long as possible from as many as possible.

Wouldn't that also mean that it would be hidden until the end of time?
