Have a great time doing the star trails Sameer... be sure to post some for us, that is if they don't wind up in a challenge! See you on a future GTG!

They won't...no expert editing and I don't think the SC (you) would like an entry with a ton of layered photos... But I hope it goes well for you guys, here's wishing for no rain on saturday.

Has a meetup spot and time been decided yet? If its the Kwik Trip, which one....the one on the west side of town, or the one down town.

I imagine the West Side would work.. however the other one is closer to the swamp.

Not sure what everyone wants to see at the marsh but, the main auto route and hiking trail are on the north side of the marsh off of highway 49 east of Waupun. There really isn't much on the south side out of Horicon. Look at the map of the marsh (from the Horicon Marsh link) on the 1st page of this thread and check out the Horicon Visitors Map. At the top of map you will see the auto tour and hiking trail. This might be the place we want to go. What does everyone think?

Blech!
I've had a heck of a week, both good and bad... upshot is, I can't make it on Saturday. Sorry to bail out at this late date, but I've got some things that absolutely must be attended to.

Fritz, Not you too?

I have been thinking. Because so many people have to back out. Maybe we should make a change of date here. If it is ok with John and Ed? Would it be better if we could set a date that more people can make it on?

How about Late July or Early August?

I am pretty open for the rest of the summer.

I say lets regroup here a.s.a.p. and sort something out. I was looking forward to Saturday however it seems like we have only a few of us and no solid plans where to meet or what we will do. I think it is logical to get back to the drawing board. Get some concrete plans in place and a date that is open to more people?

Perhaps before then if anyone is interested. I have been dying to go into Madison and do some night phogotraphy. Not just shots of the skyline but head downtown and do some candids of the nightlife, neon signs and the crazy night culture known as State Street etc.. However before then I would certainly want to get some sunset shots from the other side of the lake. Let me know if anyone is interested.

I reckon the majority of us which is you I and John, would like to see birds. But anything living out there that will sit still long enough for a photo will be exciting for me. Have to wait and see what happens here as far as the posible change of dates.

Just a thought.

The first weekend in August, my home town always has a big festival.

They will be having Bartolotta Fireworks, There is a very bright carnival and Live Music. Free Admission. I believe the band playing that night is Johnny Wad. We could have a morning and afternoon at the marsh and then you can come to Watertown have a bite to eat at the fest take some photos of the carnival rides and fireworks.
They have lots of beer also.

The night before they have Big Bad Voodoo Daddy playing. Not sure why, But I am looking forward to that one. haha

Additional info, This is in Watertown which is around 25-30 minutes south west of Horricon.
Here is a Link to the Festival Schedule

I'll be back in Milwaukee around the 25th of August if you guys want to wait till then...

I'm really glad to hear you might be rescheduling!!! I just found out that I have a couple of herniated disks in my back and may be having surgery this next week. I've have been having a whole lot of pain lately...I even had to bail on shooting the movie stills for the film shoot this week (I was only able to shoot three of the six days). The way it sounds, I should be good as new by August!!

I can do whatever. We haven't firmed up all our plans for summer travel later on, but I'm willing to flex.
06/21/2007 08:16:50 PM · #90
I am guessing it will rain on Saturday anyway. Like I said. I am open most of the summer. I will get busy around end of August when my Brother and Sister inlaw visit us from New Zealand. Altough wifes bro is a shutterbug and always has a camera in his hands so he might want to attend a GTG if by chance we would have one while he is here.

Lets keep the thread rolling here and get some plans in place.

I'm interested ... Date is flexible in early August.

I never mind taking weekend trips if I can get a dcp-er photographer to share some of the diving and some of the gas-price. Then I would go too. Anyone in Ohio, Indiana, or Pennsylvania want to share a ride? I'll check back. Last week in July or 1st two weeks in August, I'm available. (4th-of-July/Aug-20-Anniv. excl.)

Ok Lets lay out the dates we can not make it. I am booked next weekend, (Wife is having a rummage sale) Weekend of Sept 7-8 (Have Tickets to a Jazz Festival) Other than that I am as free as advice from a bartender.

While I have your ear, Is anyone interested in a Night Shoot in and around Madison? Toss some dates out if you are interested.

Madison at night has been on my list of things to shoot since I shot my postcard entry last year.

Hey Brian,

June 30th presents the best opportunity of the summer for my "moonrise" series of shots with the WI capitol dome as a foreground object of interest. 9:30 pm is the critical time:

The moon is truly full and its rising point should make it appear to emerge from directly behind the dome. I'd love to have some company for the shot, but if you get any captures better than mine, I might have to kill you and destroy the evidence.

Hey John pm me as to where you will be. I will 'weather pending' be there.
on a side note. I am heading out the door now with wife and kids to go to the Zoo in Madison. Head on down there if you are not doing nothing. I will keep an eye out for ya. Or a big white lens. haha

Didn't see any big white lenses at the Zoo today but did see alot of Nikon D-200's 5 of them. Madison = Nikon Town ? Just kidding. Seen a fair amount of the other guys out there too. Still have yet to see someone using a Sony DSLR.... Which is strange because every other point and shoot camera I see is a Sony.

We saw a guy at the Milwaukee zoo with a Sony, actually I think you were the one to point him out haha.

Most of July is out for me, possibly the last weekend in July I'd be around. Early August looks open. The weekend of the 18th & 19th is the Dodge County fair. The first weekend of October is Audobon Days in Mayville, & Waldvogel's farm has their corn maze, hay rides, etc.
