Unofficial Poll: What's in a name?

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4.0L IS

Just found out that child #2 will be a little girl (wahoo!!!)

My lovely and talented wife and I are in discussions/negotiations on her name. So far, we are set on the middle name (family name) and obviously, the last name.

So here are our top two names...for now (in no particular order):

Sarah Elizabeth MacLean
Fiona Elizabeth MacLean
or
mk

So, DPC...what do you think?

How many mac offspring do you think the world needs?

mk is clearly the best name but alas, there is only one (camera models don't count) so I'd vote for Sarah Elizabeth. Unless, of course, you wanted to call her fembot for short.

My vote is for Sarah. Any Sarah I've ever met has been sensible, funny, smart, grounded, generous and industrious.

I find it interesting that you say "obviously" about the last name.

My partner and I have different last names and when we were trying to come up with names for our daughter, we even toyed with the idea of inventing a last name for her...in defiance of the patriarchal tradition of passing along the father's name.

In the end we wimped-out and she has my last name.

Fiona has officially been shrek-o-fied for me..

I think Sarah Elizabeth, because it seems to never really get out of fashion and one can see her growing up with it comfortably...

Ahh. Right. I just typed "obviously" without really thinking what that meant (for situations like yours). My wife took my last name...that's why I said "obviously", but since I didn't mention that originally, you wouldn't know that, obviously! :-)
