"As before, use the surrounding space of your subject to create the wow of the photograph."

This does not mean that you MUST have a ton of negative space!

Not liking it is one thing. DNMCing it is another.

Feel better now? Unfortunately rants about voting usually aren't read by the voters that you'd want it to be. Sorta preaching to the choir.

It's the voters that don't hang out in the forums that love to give out the crap scores.

*The above statement is based on observation, no statistical data has been collected.

ohhhh while we are venting how about with backsides

Your challenge this week is to get behind your subject, as it were, and show us the side less seen

the side less seen, not someones back facing a sunset etc, that pretty normal one would think. Sigh

Didn't want to bring it up, but I tend to agree.

I'm with you guys, it seems that scores have been consistently on the low side ever sense the DPL started. IMHO people have figured out, "Hey I can't hurt my team and they can't hurt me so I'll go throw down some really low votes."

The opposite of "Friend Voting" one might say.

ahh well a few more weeks then the novalty of the first round will have worn off, back to less entries submited just to get that 4-5 shot so your team doesnt get a 0, more people entring selective challenges that they actually have some inspiration for.

I'm in agreement also. I have good shot, or what I think are good shots and low scores. My first of DPL was great scores then after that, down they went.

But hey, then you can toss some really high scores out for the Free Study and get your avg vote cast back up - right? :P

You know what I like to do? I like to go back to the "current challenge" threads, find the ones who are complaining that their images are great but people just vote them down because of spite, and check out the image that was supposed to be so misunderstood. Most often I find that those shots placed exactly where they should've.

Yep you got a point. I think we should have the ability to see, ACTUALLY SEE who leaves the 1's and 2's just so we can send them a PM and tell them they are flipping stupid. Well that is unless your image has brown all over it but for REAL pictures that people spend HOURS and HOURS on and produce at least a 5 for meeting the challenge and not having a picture that is so crummy, blaa blaa blaa you get the point. Anyway we should get to see who left us the 1's and 2's just to ask them why they did that and maybe we could catch a few friend voters while were at it.

Rest assured that if I left you a two and you PM'd me to say I was stupid, you would in all probability see your score cut in half... would that make you happier.

The suggestion is ...... inane... yep that's the word I was looking for.

Ya know...I haven't complained in any of the "current challenge" threads and I was just stating a fact in the quote above. I didn't rant about the low scores. Some of my images deserve what they got after seeing how I should a taken the shot or processed but I have a few that I think should have been higher.

Off soap box now.

I would love to see who hands out the 1's, 2's and 3's for that fact, and ask why the low score. Just a simple question to get feedback from.

Exactly why you can't.

Harassing voters for their opinions is not a DPC family value ...

NO problem with that... but what you are saying is a quantum leap to what I was responding to.

So who's fault is it that they weren't higher? The voters?

And why anyone should really be concerned with their average vote cast is beyond me.

Perhaps the only place that statistic should be of use is to the SC/Admin regarding looking into potential troll votes.
Oh wait - trolls don't exist - right?

Partially, yes and partially no. But that just my opinion. What I think I should have said was that I think that they could have been higher.

Which are those? If you like I'll be glad to comment on them.

Maybe we should get rid of all this photography crap, it just causes to much whining and bitching.
Lets just keep these intelligent and articulate threads.
