OK so i read the rules... and im not saying i shouldnt have got Dqd but i think the site should be a little more clear about the rules... i researched and read the rules beforehand to make sure too...
here is the pic
here is the rule i read that made me think what i did was legal..
"apply filters, effects, dodge & burn, and other tools to all or part of your entry, but NO new shapes or features may be created in the process."
This is what i got DQd for
"use ANY editing tool to create new image area, objects or features (such as lens flare or motion) that didn’t already exist in your original capture."
I used a filter and i didnt add any new shapes or features.. and i didnt know that filters were editing tools... im a little confused but i guess i learned my lesson.
:(

The motion blur you added is a "feature" that wasn't originally in your image.

it can be tough if you haven't been here long to know what's what. I'm sorry about your dq ... but I wouldn't be too bummed about it. It happens to the newbies and the oldies. No big deal. Now you know for next time.

Look, sorry you got a DQ but frankly I think you can only blame yourself.
I don´t really get what you find so unclear about the rules regarding the motion blur editing, had you read them properly this exact text I quoted from you is in the advanced rules, I put the part in bold wich emphasizes the part about adding motion.
Don´t take the DQ personally or this response and just keep on entering, I remember I was pretty pissed for a couple of hours when I got my first (and hopefully only one).

Well I haven't been DQ'd yet, but then I haven't had a worthwhile photo to look at, that is even worth being DQ'd. lol.
I guess the radial motion filter alters the surrounding picture by moving the pixels from their original position making a new area. If you just blurred it the pixels would still be in their relative position but just mixed a little with the surrounding pixels next to them. Does that makes sense?
Was it for was Advanced editing?
Why doesn't your photo say it has been DQ'd like the others?

It does sound a little grey, but I would definitely categorize the change as 'motion'... |

Getting DQ'd sucks, but in this case, I would say the motion blur is a major factor of the photo. It would certainly have a different look and feel without it. And it would be pretty difficult to create the same look using just the blur tool instead of the radial blur filter.
I've been DQ'd a couple of times and now am extra cautious. When in doubt, submit your photo to the site council prior to the challenge. They are awesome about letting you know in time if your entry is within bounds. |

I'll hazard a guess that the photo is in the Backsides challenge, which is still in voting, so she uploaded a 2nd copy of the DQ'd photo to his portfolio to show on this thread.

thanks everyone... i like the comment about pre-submitting pictures.. i guess i will do that now if im not sure... i guess i was just was mostly confused about the fact that a filter was an editing tool... i thought the editing tools were the actual "tools" but thanks for the comments and feedback.. im still new and learning.
And the model was me :) so thanks for that compliment too |
