Just got accepted by Alamy! I'm so excited - that took forever! For those of you on Alamy and other sites, how do you decide what pics go where? Or do you send them all both places?
Thanks! |

Ok i just got accepted in Alamy, 7 out of ten passed, 3 failed due to size issue slightly too small but quality good.
Just completing the info on each shot now and ready to go.
Must say i thought this lot would fail due to it being my weakest 10 from near a year ago.

I would strongly recommend that you do not send same images to Alamy AND micro stock sites... and that includes outtakes from same shooting session that are clearly similar even if not same.
If an Alamy customer were to pay big money for a shot on Alamy only to find same one (or very similar) available for a dollar on a micro stock they'd be a little pissed off. They may well make a fuss to Alamy, even though it's no fault of their own. Alamy could well lose not only that customer but others too. And they'd not be best pleased with you.
We do sell images at Alamy and at micro sites but we keep the material we send to each very separate both in terms of quality AND content.
Just my two pence.

Thank you so much for your answer! I barely looked at any of the microstock sites so far, but I guess what I was really wondering is what does well on Alamy? I also have been accepted at Photographer's Direct, but I haven't gotten a feel for what kinds of photos do well on each site yet, and I feel that I shouldn't put the same photos up on each site.

There's a section on Alamy that has lots and lots of advice on what they are looking for at the moment which would be a good place to start I think in terms of producing shots specifically for stock sales.
I have only one sale so far which is not surprising - I don't yet shoot specifically for stock and most of my images have been ones taken on holiday - and travel photography is one of the most oversaturated areas of stock photography!
If you can shoot photos that can be used in business materials or websites - people in suits etc. computers etc. - and get model releases I imagine those will do well.

Fingers crossed :-) |
All my images were accepted on first try :)
Now I'll do the keywording and choose licensing and just wait for the money to roll in :-)
(or may be not)
Anyway, it feels good to be accepted on first try. |

Hadn't noticed - don't tend to visit unless have sent new images and they are awaiting my attention before they "go live". I really need to find some time to catch up as I have hundreds and hundreds awaiting keywording before I send them in...

Has anyone got Alamy Upload yet? Mine has the link, but says it hasn't been activated on my account yet. Can't wait to upload!! |

Did notice a bunch of new stuff on the site early this am. The upload link shows on mine, but not active yet. :(
The Alamy Pro site (on Yahoo) is saying that they are slowly "turning users on" a little at a time, as to not overload the system. Just gonna have to treat that link like the UPDATE button here. :) Whack, WHack, WHACK!

So guys and gals, how's your sales going at Alamy this year. I did very good in Dec, Jan and Feb, made a couple thousand bucks but ...nothing since mid Feb. Kinda like all my pics dissapeared. It was exciting for a few months.
.
Then of course the famous Alamy read my DVD error on 91 pics sent in two months ago. Takes a month to showup at received then a few weeks more to find out there are read errors. I can't believe they have such bad DVD readers at such a main company. I always double check read on two computers before mailing it to them. Oh well.
.
So how's the sales? |

Oh, I'm so excited! I haven't visited Alamy since being accepted because it's just too much of a hassle for me to send in the discs. I can't wait till uploads are available! ::hums happily::

Trying to get my new workflow worked out but I haven't sent in anymore than my 9 shots yet. I hope to have them several hundred shots soon.

Nothing that past couple of months but 2 before that. (about $250, and $330 - both RF).

Sending in DVDs as opposed to Uploading has been the thing that has stopped me from signing up and submitting my first 10 images. I can't wait for AlamyUpload.

I am not sure or not, but reading through AlamyPro, the consensus is the initial 10 still go in by CD. ???
Might as well take care of it now, since I have had "Media recieved" since May 31st!!!!

One CD/DVD is no big deal. Every submission though...
