I'm trying to come up with songs that have lyrics about types of communication...talking, shouting, writing, mind reading...whatever. Even silence or body language.
They need to be really well known songs for probably the 30 - 50 age group in a Christian setting. I would prefer if the line of the song which had the applicable lyrics didn't just GIVE them the song title name (for instance "Shout")
If you can give the song title, and the writer or singer that would be great! If you want, also leave the lyrics you feel qualifies the song.
I've come up with quite a few, but the game will be more fun if I can come up with a bunch. Thanks! |

Can you list the ones you have, both to avoid duplicative effort and to give people an idea of what types of songs you want? |

is the "christian setting" relevant- are you looking for themed music; or can it just be secular songs like
Led Zeppelin communication breakdown
Throw your hands up and shout- from animal house
Voices carry- aimee mann
Here comes the rain again- the eurythmics
telephone line/operator --elo

Everybody's Talkin'(Echoes)
by Fred Neil
Everybody's talkin' at me.
I don't hear a word they're sayin',
Only the echoes of my mind.
People stoppin' starin'
I can't see the faces,
Only the shadows of their eyes.
I'm goin' where the sun keeps shinin'
Thru the pourin' rain,
Goin' where the weather suits my clothes.
Bankin' off the northeast wind,
Sailin' on a summer breeze,
Skippin' over the ocean like a stone.
Everybody's talkin' at me.
I don't hear a word they're sayin',
Only the echoes of my mind.
And I won't let you leave my love behind

Then there's (if your 30 to 50 audience watched Hee Haw...)
Put another log on the fire,
Cook me up some bacon and some beans.
Go out to the truck
Lift it up
and change the tire,
Then come and tell me WHY you're leaving me! |

I was listening to 'Message In a Bottle' by The Police when I looked at this thread.
Lyrics: "I'll send an S.O.S. to the world."

Definitely some good ones!
Some I had were:
"But I want you to know after all these years, you're still the one I want whisperin' in my ear" YOU'RE STLL THE ONE
"I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind that I put down in words how wonderful life is while you're in the world" YOUR SONG
"You never talk to me anymore when you come through the door at the end of the day" YOU DON'T BRING ME FLOWERS
"I will be here when you feel like being quiet, when you need to speak your mind I will listen" I WILL BE HERE (Contemporary Christian Steven Curtis Chapman)
I had several others...but apparently have left my list at work. Dang it. The Christian setting is only relevant because that genre of music is likely to be known there.
Keep 'em coming!

Here are a few more I have:
"I don't want clever conversation. I never want to work that hard. I just want someone that I can talk to" JUST THE WAY YOU ARE
"So I made a promise to myself to say each day how much she means to me" IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES
"I'm finding myself at a loss for words and the funny thing is, it's okay. The last thing I need is to be heard, but to hear what you would say." WORD OF GOD SPEAK
"I'll be a witness in the silences when words are not enough." TESTIFY TO LOVE |

The Talking Heads, Psycho Killer:
You start a conversation you can't seem to finish it
You're talkin' a lot but you're not sayin' anything
When I have nothing to say my lips are sealed
Say something once why say it again
