In "Basic Editing" I'm assuming I can not correct lens distortion in my image, right?
The rule states, "You may not...distort or stretch your image in any way", so I'm pretty sure an ever-so-slight curvature of the horizon in my image has to remain--but I just wanted to ask.

YOU MAY:
use filters or stand-alone utilities designed to preserve image integrity (such as Neat Image, Unsharp Mask, Dust & Scratches, and color correction tools). These filters must be applied uniformly to the entire image, and must not be used in such a way that their use becomes a feature. No “effects” filters may be applied to your image, with the exception of Noise and Gaussian Blur.

I recall a thread a few months ago on this... seems to me it arose after a DQ. I'll try to find it.
eta; Found it.
distortion correction etc.

Hmm...according to that thread (and Manic's reply), we can't even level (straighten) the image caused by a tilted camera??
My original question wasn't geared toward leveling the horizon (the "tilted camera" syndrome), but rather straightening out the curvature of the horizon due to lens distortion (fish-eye like). My image in question is not a bad as a fish-eye. At first glance, most wouldn't notice the curved horizon, but I would still like to straighten it.

| I think he was using "straighten" to mean something else, because straightening the horizon is just an angled crop, which is allowed according to everything I've ever seen. |

Rotation to any degree is just fine in basic and above. You're limited to 90 degree incremements in minimal editing, though.

I think he meant the list that were in the first sentence. Now that I look at the whole thread and see how short it is, that's not the one I was looking for. It was quite the discussion!
eta; Clipped this from another thread...

Distortion has never been allowed in Basic. Distortions would either involve a filter (Lens Correction) or a selection used for something other than cropping. That didn't change in the new rules, but hopefully we did make it clearer in the text. The DQ was really unfortunate though, as it was a great photo. :-(

Thanks, Sheila.
I figured that tilting a photo to make it level was acceptable (it's been done here at DPC for years). It's the lens correction that can't be done (in Basic Editing). I have enough info now to continue with prep'ing my entry.
Thanks!
