Hey all! I'm planning on taking 5-6 days to backpack through the Ansel Adams Wilderness in early July and am hoping to get suggestions for good loops that would take about that long. I'm thinking of leaving from the Agnew Meadows area near Mammoth and want to try and hit as many of the awesome lakes up there as I can (Thousand Island Lake, Lake Ediza, etc). Then ideally I'd want to end up back near either Agnew Meadows or even farther south (near Reds Meadow).

Any fellow backpackers out there that can suggest any great 5-day loops to take in that area? Great places to camp along the way, etc. would also be greatly appreciated. :) Thanks!

What comes to mind is the John Muir trail, but I'm sure you thought of that already. Not being a backpacker, I haven't done it myself and don't know what part to recommend for a 5 - 6 day backpack of this 211 mile route, but it does go by Mammoth.
