Ok my daugther is getting married one week from today, Saturday June 16th!! It's been creeping up on me for a while but now its nearly here!
To say I am looking forward to this day would be an understatment. Stacey is still my little girl even though she has presented Pam and I with two wonderful grandsons, Luke & Declan (you have all seen them on DPC!). I know it will be a pretty emotional day but I hope I will be ok for my speech! Of course its the usual family get-together problems! My dad and stepmum cant make it! My younger brother and family cant make it! Such a shame but we will just get on with things. About 75 for sit down and 150 for the evening bash!
My dear wife, Pam, has been so busy organising everything. Me? well nothing except getting the table plan printed!
Of course I am not allowed to take my 300D with me but I do have my Lumix fx-01 that will do very nicely thank you.
I hope to get some photos up here after Pam and I come back from holidays - we are going to Porec, Croatia on Tuesday 19th for a week so I can unwind her and get her to relax.
Anyway wish me luck (must get that speech started!)
edit to add - With the money we have spent on this wedding I could have kitted myself out with a 5D and an L lens or two!
Mike

Congrats on the wedding, Mike. I am sure everything will go smoothly. The speech is a bit daunting, I had to do that when my youngest got married two years ago.
Why can't you take the 300D? I took mine and used it during the whole day. There were a few times during the day when I couldn't use it, but there was plenty of time before the reception started, after it and during the evening.
Anyway, have an enjoyable and memorable day. And, both of you enjoy your holiday. Don't forget to take lots of photos to show us. :) |

Thanks Steve
Daughter and wifey knows that if I take the 300D they will not see much of me! I think my son is going to take it anyway.

Yay! Weddings are so much fun! Most especially if you don't have to do ALL the planning! :D
Enjoy the day, Mike and don't let Pam cry too much during the ceremony. :)

Take it :)) They will be too busy mixing to notice. Just stand right by them tutting and kicking things, then tell them you feel naked without your 300D. They will soon get fed up with you and tell you to go take photos. |

2 days left...
Well my older brother rang and said he cant make it now as he is unwell!(not so certain he is) So that means from my side of the family its just me. Its so dissapointing but I wont let it spoil my daughters big day.
Everthing else seems to be in place and all fitting together thanks to my dear wife Pam, what an angel she is.
I feel fine and relaxed at the moment and hope that I remain that way. I am pretty laid back anyway and hope it rubs off on Stacey on the big day.
No speech prepared, think I will just make a few notes and wing it! I will use the K.I.S.S. method - keep it simple, stupid!

Well its finally arrived! Decalan is running a high temperature and Luke had to go to the doctors yesterday to get some medicine for his chesty cough! Stacey came over yesterday evening with Declan (Luke is stayed with his dad). I managed to get about 4 hours sleep after being up talking and then Declan waking up unwell so he was awake from 4:50 this morning!
Weather forecast is rain! Never mind!
Took this - my first snap of the day! (it aint great but it was 5:53 am!)
Hope to post some pics tomorrow (Sunday)

OMG!! I just read this thread saying his daughter Stacey is getting married a week from today (I didnt check the date), I have a wedding for someone called Stacey next week.. However after checking the date I realise this was posted LAST week.. and I am going to Stratford Upon Avon as well.
Now that would of been a coincidence!
and I admit, I was desperately thinking whether I had upset MikeOwens in the past on here.. hahah.
Have a great day Mike, and try not to hassle the photographers TOO much. |

Thanks Mark - our wedding is in Newbury at 2:30! The photog is an ok guy - I checked him out, he is a Fuji man - has some decent gear! Shame he was not a Canon man I could have taken my camera and borrowed a lens or two off him

Congratulations on your daughters wedding, I hope everything goes well and you get beautiful weather :)
I do have one piece of advice from someone who has been to more than 50 weddings. Leave the camera at home and let someone else take care of the photography that day. Your little girl is getting married and that´s only going to happen once so just try to enjoy the day and spend time with your family instead of spending it taking pictures, you can do that any other day of your life :)
I just see this way too often lately, usually the fathers but sometimes the mother of either bride or groom just rushing around all day long taking pictures instead of just enjoying the day.
Trust me ;) |

What a day we all had! It was brilliant! From start to finish (I finally made it to bed at 4am!) we had a great time. I was so proud of my little princess! My dear wife, Pam, looked stunning!
Weather was a bit mixed, sunshine and showers but nothing to spoil anything.
The Hotel did us proud, the staff were excellent and the food was great!
I did manage to take a few snaps (well 185 in fact) but did keep out of the photogs way and he was very good organising and setting up shots.
Now Pam and I will fly out to Porec, Croatia on tuesday for a weeks rest!
Here is a link to some of the photos!

Great shots, Mike!
Weird place, DPC, as I live in Reading and didn't realise everyone else was so close! Mind you, had to travel to Reigate to do my official-but-not-really-as-we-want-you-to-enjoy-the-wedding-photographer bit for my nephew's wedding - and boy did the pro pull some great shots :-)
Now get some recovery time in, especially after what must have been an interesting fathers day. |
