My membership renewal is coming up and I'm feeling kind of unmotivated about entering challenges so...why should I renew?

Sell me on another year of DPC.

Cause...when the challenges don't rollover...we all have fun...!

you decide.

I can't sell you. It's too personal a decision. Do you get more than your 25.00 worth out of it in a year? Do you learn something? Do you get passionate about a members challenge?, anything? If so then it's worth it. if not.... maybe it's not.

I've felt the same about challenges for quite some time now ...
I only enter when I happen to have a photo that fits a challenge - being a member increases the odds of this happening.
Plus there's the free studies.

I renewed yesterday : )

Maybe try talking yourself INTO something?

Well, with all it's ups & downs, it's still a great place to call home.

For me, it makes me pull my camera out of the bag, and also shoot things I would never shoot in a milllion years without DP. Not to mention the education you get by reading how fellow DP-er's got a specific shot ... And let's face it ... what can you really get for $25 these days?

Here's 5 good reasons:

Looking at your profile, you've met 3 of your toughest goals for 2007. That's a VERY good start (congratulations!), and those goals you accomplished takes SERIOUS motivation, much more than taking a photo once a week. You still have 6 more months to meet some of your other goals, why stop now? Believe in yourself.

I had this decision to make last month, the one that sold me was:

Is 7 cents a day worth it to you to grow in photography, the help you get on this site, not to mention the fun and the people who are willing to help so much is worth the 7 cents a day you pay to be a member.

If that doesnt sell it for you I do not think anything will but think of it this way, you cant even buy a gumball for the price of this place per day.

I do it because this is something our government can't tax... and that alone brings me a great sense of satisfaction.

When you do enter, the question is:

Do you want an update button?

Thanks for all the great replies!

I'm remembering why I liked the site so much in the first place...you folks are all so passionate about digital photography. It's infectious.

OK. I'll renew.

Maybe everyone who replied to this thread should earn a commission? Maybe a discount on their renewal?

Thanks again.

Wait dont stay, that just means another person above me in the challenges. If I can convinece everyone not to renew my chances are better to get a ribbon. Yea thats a great plan.

Just Kidding of course, I am glad you are staying.

I am happy that you will renew. Maybe, you can also bridge your writings being a writer with your photographs -- put your unspoken words into your captures. ^_^

Cheers and enjoy another year here at DPC.

Boy you've got that right! Shouldn't be one cent over $20.00

Hey, where'd you find porn for only $25? :)

Well, the thread convinced me to actually join. (Plus the fact that warm weather is here and I'm finally using the blasted camera. :-)

'cause it's only $25 and Langdon needs a new pair of shoes.

Regretting the $25 on the donkey show you participated in Mexico?
