You can just type the URL in.

or you can use this: (with no spaces)
[url = //www.url.com ]text [/ url]

I guess the question is, can I upload my original source pictures to my portfolio and link from there and add the links in the details section? |

Yes, you can do that, but put them in your 'Workshop' folder so nobody can see them before the challenge is over, as this would give away your shot.
