This may not go over well and may seem corny but...

List a few songs from your past and along with it the first name of the person it reminds you of. You may add a short "story" if you like.

Here's mine...

Can't fight this feeling (REO) - My Wife
Stone In Love - Ann W.
First Time (Styx) - Jill

Jungle Love (Steve Miller Band) and
Bang A Gong (Power Station)
Cheryl K -

There's a line in the song Jungle Love that says "everything's better when wet".

I remember in high school I had a crush on Cheryl but was too chicken to walk up to her. She "knew" me and I was somewhat sure she liked me enough to go to the movies or something. Still I was too chicken.

One night at a football game we were being pounded by heavy rain. During halftime, when my friends and I went to the "food" stand, I saw her and her girlfriends walking towards us. Still storming and soaking wet, when she got within range I faced her...put my hands on her waist and planted a kiss. I don't know what came over me but the next weekend we went to the Power Station concert together !

Wasn't Bang A Gong done by T. Rex?
06/12/2007 05:14:18 PM · #3
I knew someone would say that ! Yes...T Rex wrote it and had a hit but it was before my time. The Power Station with Andy and John Taylor from Duran Duran redid it in the 80's. Quite good IMO.

Wait...Power Station included members from Duran Duran and Robert Palmer? I love both of them! Maybe I should look into Power Station...

yes Power Station was Duran Duran and Robert Palmer. I saw Robert Palmer when he toured Australia and he opened with Bang a Gong which was good but the rest of the show kinda was slow and boring :(

Helter Skelter-My 3rd Grade Teacher
Dirty Deeds (done dirt cheap)-My sister

Joking but on a serious note Like a Rolling Stone (Dylan), Reeling In The Years (Steely Dan) and the song Allison (Elvis Costello) roll the memories of old friends.

ok i have a few if anyone is interested.

Say hello 2 heaven -Temple of the dog - My Cousin Griff. We were cousins but lived together for all while we were growing up so we were closer than most brothers. he shot himself because of depression (caused by his mother IMo) 10 years ago this past mother's day.

Jambalaya- Hank Williams - Ryan Reeves. He was a crazy Cajun I was in the USAF with. One night at a party on my second floor dorm room. we were out on the balcony. Some crazy drunk girl was startign fights and insulting everyone. He told her that if she didn't shut up he would throw her off the balcony. she hit him so he tossed her right over. we all freaked out and ran over to find that there was a one story building right there so she only fell a few feet. it was very funny after we saw that. Although i was never sure that he knew before hand.

Longest bridge in the world
- Dash Rip Rock - Dick Filbert. This is about the Lake Pontchartrain causeway which is a bridge that runs about 24 miles near New Orleans. one night after a NIN concert we were heading back from New Orleans at about 1:00 AM. Dick was driving and he was always bad about getting lost. We went over the bridge and got gas as soon as we got off. he went the wrong way out of the gas station and we ended up having to drive over the bridge and then back again.

I have a bunch more but i will stop for now.
