There always seem to be a number of threads talking about how to vote and comment, either of the "here's how I do it" nature or the "why do people do it this way" nature.

Either way, it would be useful to have a place for users to discuss, in general, how they approach voting and commenting, free from the bitching and ranting about what's going on in the current challenge (which is usually what sparks the discussion). A Voting & Commenting forum could also be useful to new users as they figure out their own voting/commenting styles and systems. It might also be nice to see a couple stickies at the top from SC or the Admins on the topic as well.

I'm not talking about a forum to discuss votes or comments on current challenges, but more general threads about how people vote, comment etc.

If I could I would...then I could ignore it. I think it is a good idea for many reasons, but for me, sometimes I just get tired of seeing "why did I get this score..." or "Why do people vote low..." or "Look how good I am because I vote this way..." or "look how bad you are because you vote that way ..." threads.

Many people seem to want to know "why did I get this score..." simply so they can actually learn something and get better.

It's usually not a whining, "oh woe is me", "you people don't get it", attitude.

Those threads are actually helpful to more than the person who put up the original post.

While we are at it, can we also have a forum section for all the emotional, can I have your sympathy, I am hurt/in the hospital/just had surgery/broke some bone, such and such sob story threads?

Please don't take this the wrong way, but when I first started participating in this community they were few and far between. Lately though, I attribute this to the growing demographic and increased population, more younger members, it seems to be every day where someone is spilling more information about their personal life than most of us needed to know. It is not that I don't have sympathy or compassion or am unable to feel for other's situations, but this is a PHOTOGRAPHY website/forum. People seem to want to turn this into every other discussion forum where there is no theme or common ground among the participants other than they post in the same forums.

Given all the recent threads and hand wringing over how we should vote and why, seemed to me it would be a good time to bump this suggestion. Though I have to say, the longer I'm around here, the more I'm inclined to ignore those threads like CEJ suggests.

One person, one vote, use it how you want, no whining.
