I am new to photoshop and I am wondering if there is a way to crop a selection in a photo and keep the aspect ratio. I want to do a crop but I don't want to change the shape.

If you are using photoshop CS the crop tool has a button just below the menus at the top of the window which says "Front Image." By clicking this photoshop will keep the size of the image as well as the aspect ratio for the crop.

Hope this helps.

Thanks I don't know why I couldn't figure that out. I'm editing photos for a weding alblum what size should I make each shot? 3x5?

I think 5x7s are good for people shots. 3x5 are pretty small. You can also put the numbers in the text boxes to the left of the "front image" button after selecting the crop tool, Which looks like a little square with a line through it. Just reverse the numbers for portrait as opposed to horizontal.
