Today I was honored to meet and visit Steve Bloom. I've witness several exhibition, but this was the first to completely shock me in so many ways. My first reaction was to drop my camera, and never take another photo again. Simply because ever single shot I saw was like "once in a lifetime shot"..
His work was incredible in so many ways, I can not state how impressed or amazed I was at his work. It's fantastic to see someone accomplish so much magnificent work, but at the time time it's so nervewrecking and utterly pointless to continue shooting. I'm not sure this is a common feeling. But I felt like I was completely useless in producing something worthwhile for the public seeing his work.
Might I've add his online work does not give him any credit vs. his print work. I guess his conversion/sharpening is totally wrong.
But if you ever get a chance to see his work in a real exhibition. Travel 100 miles to do so, it's still worth it. He is the wildlife photographer #1 in the world. And he will always hold that position in my eyes.
Cheers.
