Hi,

I finally chose to get the D200 because it seems to have the best value/quality in the market.

Do you know where I could find a body for 1300 $ (reliable website) ?

Thanks

Max

No where reputable at the moment I'm afraid. Amazon is a good place to find the lowest "Reliable" price though.

Edit to add: I do most of my shopping via bhphotovideo.com, Adorama.com or Amazon.com

Looks iffy to me. Use at your own risk!

I never hear anything negative about Amazon, B&H or Adorama (this is assuming you are in the U.S.).

Those other guys??? Well, let's just say, it ain't worth it!

For another $150, you can get it at B&H - very reputable place.

Adorama has refurbished D200 every once in a while for $1245.

I'd get it from the DPC member that really needs the money. B&H doesn't need the money, they make enough off me.

B&H sometimes has discount codes - I got mine in December (new) for $1299.95 using one of their codes...Search the forums at www.dpreview.com - I think B&H keeps the codes under better wraps now, but its worth a shot.

Megatherian,

How many shots did you take with your camera? Let me know. Thanks

Bought mine for 1360 USD at J&R music world.

I think the Canon EOS 5D was on par with the D200 as far as build quality and ease of use. D200 has nothing analog on it, the jog dials only. A couple jog dials and the press of a button can get you flying through configurations on the fly in seconds. D200 is a bargain. But the 5D is a fortune.

I did some looking and read Nikon estimates the shutter life of a D200 to be around 180,000. I also read about a user that has almost 300,000 actuations and it was still going strong. There's still a lot of life in this camera.

The typical usage for the camera was ballet shows.

~100-200 shots for the poster
~1500-2000 shots of class shot over 2 days.
~1500-2000 shot dress rehearsal night (I get to control the lighting on these nights)
~1000-1500 show night 1
~1000-1500 show night 2

There were 3 shows I shot so the camera has had heavy use for ~15 days of it's life. The rest of the time I've hardly used it. I don't know if that's good or bad but I want to be honest about it's use.

As far as price goes, I want to be fair to both the buyer and myself. Used D200s seem to go for a minimum of around $1200 on e-bay so I figured I'd drop the price off of that a bit and include shipping (and the vertical grip and extra battery) to save myself some headache and because DPC is my main "community". If I'm being unreasonable please let me know.

Edit, too slow, thats Waz ;)

I have always treated it very well and have the original packaging.

I've been working on taking pictures of all my gear for the past few hours - I'll post links as soon as I get them up a little later tonight.

I'm also selling the lenses in my profile as well.
