This is the shot I wanted to use:
What I noticed about the technicals? Absolutely nothing. Nothing jumped out at me to scream "hey, the technicals here are great!" nor from the opposite perspective. Nothing even whispered or nagged. Yet a knowledge of the technical aspects of a good photograph (to include post processing, from Mr Beguin's remarks) is what allowed this to speak so loudly, so strongly, and to be one of the most magnificent photographs on the site for a long while. |

Really? I'm seriously hoping he will give a step by step tutorial on how he did the burning on this shot. It amplifies the impact of the image tenfold. |

Note that I didn't mean to say that the technicals are NOT great - they are. The point is it allows the picture to be what it is. The point is that the technical aspect of the photograph is NOT the point. (Not sure if I made myself clear - not sure if I did it any better this time, either!) |

Think it just confirms the only point to be taken from this endless thread - everyone sees a photo through different eyes and draws different conclusions. |
