Since the two exclusive open challenges were contrast challenges I ran the numbers to see how the scores looked on a graph. I wanted to see if it showed if there were were lower votes between the two challenges. Here is the graph

Why did one challenge do so poorly compared to the other?
After looking at the graph and number does anyone want to share their view(s) on these challenges?

Note: This is not a rant, treat this thread as a constructive debate

Religion is polarizing almost by definition, so it's MUCH more difficult to generate an image that appeals to everyone. The topic probably also presents less opportunity for visual appeal.

Religion is a personal topic that will evoke a wide range of emotion and the "acceptable" subject material will be more restrictive. Therefore what people "like" will be in a narrower range.

Science was easier to shoot for and is more universally accepted and doesn't have quite the narrow "acceptable" range.

I scored low in religion because my Jesus wouldn't hold still...

I think there were some really just bad images in religion. I think the subject matter caused people to think to much or something and shoot some photos that were just not good. (like mine...lol) Photos of tombstones, church steeples, and things like that just are not real engaging. Religion is hard to shoot because most of the time it is associated with things that we cannot see.

I saw a lot of images of other peoples art. Statues, bldgs, etc. You really have to wow me to get a good score for those.
