It could also be because the shot was more DNMC the second time around. They are definitely a "defining feature" but not so much "still." |

Could be too many A-holes think they know what meets criteria and what doesn't. They are lemmings that have to copy everyone else's photo instead of being creative enough to come up with their own. Count how many people were creative enough to capture someone acting like they were praying. How many people are creative enough to take a picture of smoke, or water being dropped into a cup of water. When someone does come up with something creative they are hammered on this because people think it doesn't meet criteria. If there were a set criteria then there would be specific do's and don't's every week. Instead it is a quick blurb and you are left to your own interpretation of the criteria.
I guess everyone should have to ask for permission to submit a photo before they do to insure it meets criteria.

No, just expressing my opinions at the moment. But, thanks for the offer!

its kinda funny that you complain about people getting hammered for not meeting the challenge when you post a response that really has nothing to do with this thread |

I'm a bit mystified. You have a website where there are no monetary prizes or anything like that at all, the only thing you really get out of it is a learning experience, feedback and something like online community prestige. So what's the point of entering someone else's shots? I actually don't get it... |

Like the Mafia DPC, heh. Go get em ! |
Yea they came in my shop the other day and asked if I needed protection...then they proceeded to destroy my place. Needless to say I got the full coverage. |

Some people will do anything to achieve "victory" even if the prize is only a tiny gif file. The same motive that makes people lie about who they are to gain acceptance by others.

Did they start DQing your photos, one by one :-)

Ok...so how does D & L make this site more fair? I'm putting up better photos and getting hammered on the scores! These people like Mrx, is just clogging up the system and making it harder for those of us that play by the rules. I can't say that I can't believe that someone would be so brazen to steal photos off this site and repost them, because now I think I have just about seen it all.

But, if he has ripped this photo off someone it is pretty lame! |
Certainly, the shot isn't quite as good as DrJones usual efforts. However, I understand it is actually his (just an older shot). See the comment by Kosmikreeper on the image.
As for the DQ of the image - I would venture that it is not enough simply to DQ it. DrJones (or Martin) should be made aware of the theft and asked whether he would like the image removed from the site altogether. |

They shot me up with ones...then hacked my profile and deleted all my shots, then uploaded a dead horse as my profile pic. |

I now see that this is probably the case. I guess even the greats had to start somewhere. My point was that MrX isn't DrJones.

Yeah, as a world-reknowned, mega-rich, globe-trotting photographer, I can see why someone would got to extremes for acceptance :P |

Or see if you can just change it to his name...it is his. |

My thoughts are this, you have to be pretty dumb to try to pass off a DrJones shot as your own, especially on this site. I mean he's one of the top 10 favorite photographers for goodness sake. You don't think his stuff will be recognized!?!? Duh!!!
So either he/she was trying to see how far they could go before they got caught, perhaps thinking he was pulling a fast one on us all or he/she is just not the sharpest tool in the shed.
I prefer to believe the later mainly because I think cheaters are stupid in general and refuse to give them any credit for trying to be sneaky. Plain and simple.
Good riddance to bad rubbish, I always say. |
