GO SENS GO!!! |
For the first time in these playoffs the Sens are playing a team not in total disarray. I may be exaggerating but Pittsburgh wasn't ready to do anything in the playoffs yet, New Jersey fired their freak'n coach right before the playoffs started and Buffalo was lost the minute they said go. Anaheim on the other hand like the Sens were ready going into this matchup.
I do think the Sens will come out and play really well today and make this a little more of a series but there's no way they are beating the Ducks unless Pronger, Niedermeyer and or Giguiere get hurt. The Sens don't have anything that comes close to matching that rock of a foundation and they don't have the overwhelming offense to compensate. That said I am pulling for the Sens since I hate the Ducks. :P |
Well.. that's good that you're pulling for them, because this is how it'll go:
Sens will win both at home. Series is a lot closer than two ducks wins would show. A *lot* closer. Sens at home will give that edge.
The Sens will then win a nail-biter (possibly overtime) game back in Anaheim. The Sens will then come home and win the cup on home ice.
Just ask Jewellian if you want to know the accuracy of my predictions. lol. |

You're right it's close which is why I favor Giguiere over Emery and the rest of the Duck squad over the Sens. I'm just not sold on the Sens resiliency when faced with pressure and they are facing it for the first time in this series.
Here's how I think it will go. The Sens win tonight then the Ducks steal game four possibly in OT and then finish it in 5. I think something has to really break the backs of the Ducks confidence to lose both games in Ottawa let alone this series. Perhaps a 5 OT game tonight might do it. Hopefully we can get more of those before they do something crazy like add a shootout.

NHL needs some new refs. I liked it better when they weren't deciding games. Funny the one obvious call they should have made (i.e. Pronger hit) they miss. Ridiculous. Well at least the Sens didn't go down 3-0 although it wasn't looking too great early on. |

I have no problem with the result of the game but, I honestly can't believe they ruled the fourth ottowa goal good. The senators player clearly turned his foot and directed the puck in the net. I couldn't help but laugh as I listened to the commentators immediately switch their thoughts(which orginally agreed) as soon as it was announced a goal.

I personally don't know why that isn't allowed. His foot is part of him it should be allowed. Heck the ref is considered part of the rink.
It was a good game all in all though (mainly cause I don't care who wins, I just like to watch), hope the guy that took the header to the boards is ok. |

I don't know which network you were listening to, but what you were saying about the commentators simply did not occur on the channel I had on.
As far as directing the puck with his foot... a quick perusal of Rule 70 of the NHL rule book will indicate that the goal was indeed legitimate:
Rule 70 Kicking the Puck
a) Kicking the puck shall be permitted in all zones. A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who uses a distinct kicking motion to propel the puck into the net. A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who kicks a puck that deflects into the net off any player, goalkeeper or Official.
b) A puck that deflects into the net off of an attacking player who does not use a distinct kicking motion, is a legitimate goal.
The decision made in this specific instance was that because the player "not use a distinct kicking motion, it was a legitimate goal".
I hope this helps...
Ray

WEll from what I saw, he did use a distinct kicking motion, but his foot was not kicking towards the goal.....so, good call by the ref's |

Exactly. Thing is the refs/goal judges have been in consistent. He tried to kick it in the net (missed) and doesn't get penalized while in the Ranger series there was no attempt at all to kick it in the net yet the Rangers get called for it and the goal doesn't count. Like I said earlier, refs suck but what else is new? Allowing that goal was probably one of just a couple of good calls they made in yesterday's game. |

Look it was ruled a good goal, I saw the multiple videos a billion times, his foot followed the puck. Done. And Pronger is getting what he deserves IMHO after that truly nasty hit to McAmmond. |

Pronger isn't even getting close to what he deserves ... this is the 4th or 5th time he's been suspended for hits like that ... second time this year ... he deserves far more than a 1 game suspension |

It's definitely more than the 5th time. Over the period of his career I heard he's been suspended around 17 times. I never thought he was that much of a goon, but I guess he is. |

Not trying to defend Pronger but the dude is 6'6" and McAmmond is only 5'11". Hard not to hit him up high every time. There's been plenty of players who don't have his height leaving their feet to hit up high. Heck, one of the Sens was called for doing just that in the last game. |

At least there was a call. With Pronger's hit, no penalty at all. The suspension was given after reviewing the tapes. McAmmond was out cold from the hit. |

Don Cherry blamed it on the equipment, elbow pads are too big. |

Ducks win because the refs blew it.
Penner's go-ahead goal was a result of a blatant slash that gave the pucks to the ducks.
Way to go refs. Way to go. |

Well hey I'd say Alfie did as good a job as he could, seeing that apparently both Spezza and heatley have led weights tied to their skates. When ws the last time either of them scored? The Sens played a terrible third period, I was all set to start winging ankle weights at the TV :( And Pronger wasn't even playing.
I do think that the Sens will win the Cup, but not this year. |

The Sens need to show up for more than 1 period.
Ducks in 5. |
