These are not my images, but I am curious to get comments on the quality. Post comments here please and in a few hours I will reveal who's they are. If you know, please do not post until after I have revealed the answer. Thanks.

I know these images, the problem is the poor resolution of what you have posted can't begin to do them justice.

This is very true. Can't find and don't expect to find anything on the web that could do them justice. I have thought about trying some shots like these. Simple and beautiful.

Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder... um beholder.

These might have been done by some well established photog... but to me they are trees in black and white, next pictures please. They are not saying to me stick around and study me a bit.

:)

ED: what a mess that was; missing words, double words and grammar

For those that think this is a trap...(wink,wink)...it isn't. It has nothing to do with voting or challenges. I am trying to wrap my mind around how Ansel Adams could take something that looks so simple and make it really stunning.

I am revealing the name now so it does not look like I am trying to call anyone out or make a point on voting. Each of us has their own taste and that is cool. I have been looking at alot of his work and it is amazing.

So, no this isn't a trap or trick thread. I am looking for ideas on how to look for things like this, even though it looks likes something you would not really give a second thought to.

I went to an exhibition of this gentleman's photos and, although I was an early fan, i lost a bit of an appreciation for him. I began to wonder if HIS photos were good because they were HIS photos. As I started the exhibition, I felt like my theory was right. There wasn't anything that really set them apart other than the fact that they were HIS.

By the time I finished the exhibition, I was won over. How did he "see" the photo that was lurking inside that stump? That rock? Those trees? When I take a picture of a stump, it's a stump. When he takes it, it's a thing of beauty.

That's why he's him and I'm me. And we're us :)

Adams in my opinion & in many others was an okay photog, but no one can deny he was a master in the darkroom.. Can you imagine someone making up the zone system.. Every shade is given a numeric value and this was all done how long ago??? I, for that reason alone would love to spend many hours studying his images.. (if I ever had that kind of time of course).. ;-)

What I'd really like to see more of, are before & after images of his. Then I think someone could really appreciate his art. IMHO

Well for starters you might want to see and think like a sculptor.

Now this I can understand, but making it work is another thing all together.
