I said in a previous thread that I may have some more news shortly...and now I can share it with you all.
I just came back from our local show. And from the Photography Section I managed to pick up the following.
Grand Champion
Reserve Champion
Champion Challenge Winner - 100 years of the Surf Lifesaver
Most Points Trophy
19 Firsts
12 Seconds
11 Highly Commended
Kita also did well...getting the following in the Junior (up to 13 years) section.
Grand Champion
Reserve Champion
Most Points Trophy
7 Firsts
2 Seconds
1 Highly Commended
Three years ago I first entered this show...with the goal of getting a Grand and Reserve. Whilst in past years I only managed to get the Reserve and Moist Points Trophy...this year I finally achieved my goal. I was ecstatic. Since I have now achieved my goal I will be retiring from that show.
On Wednesday one of the local radio stations will be running their show from the showgrounds and have organised for me to come in and have breakfast with them whilst they interview me on air. So I am thinking of announcing my decision then, so it should open up the playing field for next year.
Some people may think this a little excessive...but I am proud....I achieved my goal. |

I have a couple of exhibitions in the pipeline. But I am snowed under with two major works for clients which have been ongoing since September last year. They should be coming to an end in the next few months.
In the meantime I am in full force with my postcard range and also have clients knocking for some study shoots in the area. My overall plans are for a couple of books in the next 18 months.
But my website is dragging them in on a daily basis...so even next year is starting to get booked up with weddings. |

Congratulations to you and Kita.
But good grief, did you leave any awards for anybody else? :)
Next time they're gonna have to come up with extra awards for the show:
Grand Champion...besides Judi
Reserve Champion...besides Judi
Most Points Trophy...that wasn't Judi's |

Judi... True artists seem to feel sensitive and inadequate about how their own works are received. They feel compelled to explain to their friends that their art was recognized as good by strangers.
No matter how well you do or how many awards you recieve I think you will always feel a certain amount of uncertainty and will seek further acceptance from those close to you. Why? I have no idea. You are very talented and gifted. For me, however, I'm glad that your perceived lack of acceptance will spur you on to even greater works that I may be privileged to witness.
