My first challenge suggestion, so go easy on me...
Take a photograph from the perspective of a 3 year old. How does the world look to them. If they had the camera, what would they focus on.
Let's hear your thoughts. |

I bought my 3 year old a Fisher Price Camera for his birthday. It's pretty rugged. It's been dropped, kicked, buried in sand and still keeps ticking.
(I hope this doesn't kill my site.) I posted his pictures to my website. Except when I've taken pictkers, they're all taken from his perspective.

Not bad photos from a 3 year old. I think it is a cool idea. I don't have a 3 year old and I don't think I can think like one anymore but it would be neat if people turned the camera over to the 3 year old to see what they come up with. They are more creative than you think. I am finding that out with my 13 year old. |

I think the idea should be expanded to a child's perspective rather then a three yr old... It's got more scope..
I took great pictures when I was three actually.. Better stuff then I take now.. hehe..
I, creepily enough, remember my perspective as a crawler.. I remember lying in the sun thinking that the grass was too pointy.. suddenly my mom comes out[All I could see were her legs] and my mind went to frantic 'get to mommy' crawl mode.. weird.. |

For my sons 4th birthday I got a bunch of those disposable cameras and let the kids take whatever shots they wanted to. We were at a gymnastics playroom that had a little birthday party room. I had no idea what I'd get when I got them developed but, amazingly there were some very interesting and well framed shots. The one my son toted around throughout the party was the one I liked best because it was exactly as you suggest..... a different perspective. There were shots of other kids that had grown up legs and there were shots looking up at the balance beem, etc, etc. Remembering what he shot would be my inspiration if this were to be made a challenge.
Maybe even an expert editing where you actually have a child take a shot and then you use that as inspiration for your own and the entry would be ... what's it called .... a diptych? Where you have two shots in one photo? That could be interesting I think... and fun. Those who don't have kids of their own could borrow someones. |

I love his pictures!! That's exactly what I was thinking when I suggested this.
So, does he have a DPC membership yet? I'll bet he could smoke me in these challenges. |

My boys are teenagers now, but I think they plot with my husband to determine who is going to act like a 3 y/o each day. |

He doesn't have an account yet, but watch out when he does.
You can see the difference in camera quality here when we both took a picture of each other:

His composition is actually fairly cool - loving the purple fringing ;) |

Heh. I don't have access to a three year old, but there's my little brother (just turned five).
I could give him my default camera and let him go crazy.
The problem with this suggestion is that.. Well, I just couldn't see it working..
If a little kid is taking the picture, it isn't your work.
Someone could take a normal picture and claim that a little kid took it and therefor win.
The pictures are going to suck.
Not everyone could submit to this challenge easily. |

I think the idea was to imagine you are 3... and then take the shot. |
