Good morning all,

I have a few photos that I like alot but they all have some sort of power lines in them. I was wondering what the best way of removing them would be without makeing the photo look horrible.

Here is an example:

Thanks for looking,

Just use the Clone tool. Take a sample from just above the lines and use a soft brush.

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by soft brush?

Thanks

Change the brush "hardness" to somewhere nearer to 0% than 100% - at least in photoshop. it makes the edge of what you are "painting" gradual and thus harder to detect the editing.

I always used the Patch tool in CS2.. It took them out as clean as soap and the pictures were wonderful.. 'Fraid I don't have CS2 anymore though..

A JCB. Make sure that you backfill the hole left by the posts. Don't try this with your own phone or power lines or you may find that the internet stops working.

a patch tool would work fine with an even background, but if there is a gradient in the sky it isn't all that easy. The trees in this image will cause troubles as well. It isn't that noticeable with smaller web images, but it becomes very apparent with printed images.

People around here have become quite good at taking out power lines with cars :-)

I use iPhoto with my Mac. There is a tool that works well for that.
A good shot with a 30/30 works too, but then you have to get the pic and get out of there soon after. : )

I spent considerable time untangling power lines from the trees in this shot. They were running through the tree line. just had to take my time with the clone tool. You can't tell they were there on the 16x20 print I have.
