OK, let's try it this way.
I suggest moving cuspie from Team Novice to Team Zombie and replace her with motherlee and I suggest moving melismatica from Team Hoover to Team Zombie and replace her with rheverly.
Unless I hear other suggestions, this will happen tomorrow so that Rob has time to update the thumbnail and scoring program. |

Sounds good to me. Haven't seen or heard from Cuspie for a long time. Welcome to Team Novice, Motherlee! |

Will Raish make a special prize for beating Larus twice in one week? Not to toot my own horn too much, but I got him in selective desat, too :-) |

:D Yay, I have a shiny new piece of photography gear.
I've been using my ex-boyfriend's tripod for a number of months now - he lent it to me while we were going out, and its return got delayed by photo shoot after photo shoot... Anyway, I went home this weekend, and my stepdad gave me his tripod on sort of permanent loan, since he hasn't used it in a while.
I've just taken it out of its box, and it's so the most exciting thing I've seen in ages :D The one I've been using so far is an old-fashioned chunky metal one with a couple of the leg extensions either impossible to pull out or impossible to fasten (I never quite got it to go up to full height). This one's all new and shiny, it's lighter, the legs all slide out easily, it has random automatic quick release things, and even a couple of spirit levels that tell you whether your camera's horizontal or not. It's so cool! :D |

Enjoy! :) Just watch your positioning. I'm already missing the flip-out LCD on my P&S camera. It's amazing how easy it is to get the SLR into a position on a tripod where I have to contort myself to see the viewfinder.

I'm not adverse to doing what's requested - I just really, really wish they'd be a bit more understanding in providing lead time and a few minor details, that's all. Worst of all - if this comes to pass, I don't get to go the European worshop. So I'm a wee bit on the bummed side. I'm really enjoying the job I have now and it just seems a tad unfair that it may end so abruptly. My option is to request retirement, which means I'd get to stay in this job for another 9 months or so, then have to figure out what to do next.
Anyway, not the end of the world (but I do think I can see it from here!). |
When all is out of reach to your thoughts, we have a spare room, and you could come and bum around with us, going to the boat club, taking photo's, ect. ect. but then we have a golden labrador, that just loves cat's to wrestle with. there is always an open door here.

Wow!!! Go TS!!! Congrats to our ribbon folks and it's wonderful to see 'em scattered all over the front page!
Deb.....hang in there! I just know that it'll work out. You seem to have a way about you that just gives me confidence for you.
Welcome to all the newcomers!
I just bought a new tripod as well.....I was just shocked at the cost. Being a professional at repair and fabrication, I'd been racking my brain for a fix for my old clunky tripod that I'd twisted the threads off of finally.....it'd always been a nuisance, and I just picked up this one at Circuit City.
//www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sunpak-Medium-Duty-Tripod-6464/sem/rpsm/oid/149168/catOid/-13357/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do
Who would have thought you could buy a decent tripod for $50?
I've been having abysmal luck lately getting any kind of decent shots of anything lately, so I dunno when you'll see anything from me......a terrible slump, I'm VERY disheartened and getting clobbered in Desat on what was the only decent shot I'd had in weeks sure didn't give me a good warm fuzzy.....
Oh well......this is why I know I'll never be in the big time, I just don't have it all the time.
Enough whining.....congrats again to the TS ribbon gatherers!!!

Enjoy your new tripod, Jeb. It's funny - I just posted a link to that exact tripod in another thread today. I have a very similar one from Sunpak, just a bit shorter. I've gotten great use out of it.

Thanks. :) Actually, thanks to all the team suckers who've left congrats messages. It's really nice!
I'm having fun with the D200. Both my Four Elements and Science shots used it.
The nice thing about the S2 IS is that it taught me how to use manual settings, including things like the timer to eliminate vibration when on a tripod. So switching was much less of a whole new world than a matter of translating what I want to do into a different series of button pushes.
Actually, didn't Kashi and someone else recently get SLRs? How'd you find the transition?

I took my abstracts in today only to find that they're unprintable, those colours can't be printed *sigh* I guess I have to shoot some dull boring abstacts. :( |

Are you trying to print on a school printer? Don't discard the photos - these could probably be printed by a vendor. |

Mary we have a lab at school that handles all our printing but my lecturer says the colours are outside the gammut which just isn't making sense to me. I'm going to throw one through the nasty KMart machine in the morning to see just what happens. |

I'll make these 4 moves in time for Sunday's results.
EDIT: The teams file for the results scripts has been updated.

Out of gamut usually means it is more about a limitation of the color space of the hardware (the school printer) than a problem with your photograph.
I suspect that if you were to send one through an online vendor like DPCPrints or MPIX you would end up with gorgeous prints. |

I don't think those dot-matrix printers they have at school work to well. :)
Deb, hope things are getting better.
Jeffrey, hope you are liking your new D200. Have you started setting up any of the banks yet? I have some predefined banks for "velvia" type shots etc if you are interested. Also, now you can go out and by some old AIS Manual Focus glass.
Is it too late to contribute to the camera fund? I was going to do that today (payday), if it isn't too late. |

Nope, haven't even figured out what banks are. I'd love to get whatever you have - velvia was the last editing step that took my stairs shot to its current quality. :)
Nope, not too late on the camera fund. Go to paypal.com and send money to jeffrey at cliffclimber dot com (replace @ and . in the normal places).
