Okay...can I step in here please. For starters..t.his thread is going off topic to the OP. Can we please bring it back in line.

The second thing is....who has copyright on ideas...I see many images (both ribbon and non ribbon) that are so similiar if not exacting to other images both on and off this site.

So lets not ASSUME anything...and just get on with the topic of the OP...not someone elses problem or discussion.

Jorge is an excellent photographer as proven by his flawless execution. Also it isn't easy to just take an idea regardless of origin and do well with it. For every one that succeeds many more fail.

Btw, it's probably not a good idea to post something from another web site here especially in a thread about stealing. At the very least bandwidth is being stolen.

Seems like your mind went over to De Sousa's photo thread too.

Am I the only one who found the site very non-intuitive to navigate. How are you guys finding all these pictures? (Although I did find a Sonifo and a Manny...)

I am with you Snotty. I found that same problem when I first checked that site out months ago...and that was over a stolen photo...! Weird site...too much work!

I agree with this. Although my photos are not as near as good as some. DPC should make a water mark that says the photo was in a challenge at DPC and the owner is (so and so).

Isn't the watermark service a paid for service from adobe? Can't you track stuff and everything with that service? That would be cool, but sounds expensive.

You are thinking of DigiMarc, which is a differnt concept -- it's an "invisible" watermark which will not prevent unauthorized usage, but make it easier to track.

The first helpful comment. Better yes the site should automatically add a watermark we load in our profile once the competition ends or if someone trys to copy.

The Slippy photo I found while doing a search for "stumbleupon stealing images". The first hit showed "dpchallenge" in the description so I clicked on it. What I was actually trying to find was any legal cases involving stumbleupon and copyright issues.

Ahhh. Right, is that any good?

Yeah that sucks!

Lots of folks said its a compliment. I think its a compliment if she gives you cred for it.

thank you so much! you are wonderful:)
I was so upset, almost crying.
but let it be
:)
as long as no one tries to pretend they made my photos and do no sell them - let it be.
probably it's like with books, once you've written them they start living their own lives.
i still can't understand how you find those images:)
ah, i'll find it out.
thank you!

Svetlana,
I've also had a load of this sort of problem and I found out (with the help of the wonderful people of DPC) that, if you contact the site admins or the host site, the picture will, in most cases, be taken down.

I wouldn't let it rest with a "let it be". It's your wonderful photo and I'd at least notify them that it's being used without your permission. It's always worth a try.

Good luck.

That's horrible.
She even claimed it's herself-portrait
by writting this 'I am a 39 year-old single woman from On A Small Island In, Washington, USA'

That's ridiculous...go and get her svetlana.

I recommend just knocking on her door. That would freak somebody out so bad, they would never do it again...lol Google earth man, google earth...it is everywhere. I secretly wish I were a spy. Break into her house, leave a post it on her computer..."don't use my image as your own". And then quietly exit in time for drinks with the enemy girl spy that you just met...good times, good times...

thank you Irene!
sure, I've contacted the admins of the site.
I mean there's no point in beeing mad at things that are gong to happen anyway:)
i choose to see it as a compliment.
(though i will try to ask her to remove the photo)

That's because you're treating it like a normal website, which it isn't. You're supposed to use the site by installing a "Stumble" button and you "browse" by hitting this button and being taken to "random" sites. There's a *lot* more going on, but that's the basic idea.

It's very addictive and if one of your photos gets Stumbled big time (done properly, not like the image in this thread) it's worth 50,000+ views.

she hasn't, and she said sorry and changed her profile picture.
