hehe:)
you all are laughing at me, right?
this is the first time i see this happening to me! :)

Not laughing, just providing a rational solution. I get e-mails all the time from people with my sunset photos posted all over the net. I have given up. Google earth seems like the only way I can retaliate on a person anymore. Small claims court I guess.

Ah. Well, so much for that idea...

And don't worry, silverfoxx. No one here is laughing. Its something everyone who competes here at DPC has to deal with, as none of us can protect the work that we enter in challenges.

And since you joined...make sure you use the same photo as your profile pic, too.

How disgustingly ugly a comment this is.

Svetlana, I think you're photo is too good to let it be used like this. Hopefully she'll respond if you are able to contact her; if not, I think contacting the site admins is still an option. Do that as well.

Nope, simple fact is, if it's on the web it CAN be stolen, no matter what measures are taken. Someone asks this question in every thread about this problem that pops up. Sorry, simple truth, put it up, someone can and likely will steal it.

I'm still championing for the site-wide watermark.

And if the admins of the sites refuse to do it, bring it to the attenton of their service provider, as they can also be held responsible.

fotomann_forever is right! disabling "right-click" functions on a site only aggravates people to find other ways to steal images (i've found.)
if you can't right click, there's always ctrl+PrntSc. then cropping around the image needed. that will never change.
but I digress.

silverfoxx is also right. I can't message her either. I thought I might try to be helpful and message her on silverfoxx's behalf. The only way I've found to get ahold of her is to right a review on her profile.
review her profile here!

I do it, but I fear being too forward and getting into the middle of something that's none of my business.

Does Slippy care about his photos being used? I just noticed one of his here: //youneed2see.com/web/137/StumbleUpon_Sundays_(Pictures) (scroll down the page).

Stumble Upon is exactly that, a place where good photos are shown and the photog who took them is shown. There are probably hundreds of DPC pics there, I have seen several of mine. In reality as long as they give credit and are not making money, selling or using your photo for advertisement it probably falls under the fair use laws. No lawyer, but you are raising your blood pressure over something that you can't really change. Sorry, join the crowd on this one.

No good... it Took me less than a second to snake my own photo

Vista's Snipping tool even lets you crop and edit it after you do a screen grab.

De Sousa's photo is a million times better. Who cares where he got the inspiration from?
05/28/2007 08:58:37 PM · #47
the rip off was MUCH MUCH MUCH better. besides theres two fishes the winner had a shark.
05/28/2007 09:02:27 PM · #48
It's less a photographic "inspiration" than a face-painting inspiration. I've seen face-paintings like that aplenty. De Sousa's is artful, this one's a snapshot.

I am sorry I just personally didn't like the picture and when I saw this other picture I really didn't like it

And you've made that quite clear. However, I don't think he claimed originality anywhere in his notes...

In any event, this is off topic and disrespectful to the OP.
