I take it a nikon camera, such as a d70s will not take a canon EF lens? or am I wrong

correct
only nikon lenses or whats called third party (sigma/tameron/etc) with nikon mounts
and then only lenses that have been mfg after 1977 or that have been AI -modified

No entirely true. You can get an adapter that will allow you to put a Canon lens on a Nikon or the other way around. However, from what I've been told by people who have done this is that the adapter is hard to find and expensive.

again... the adapters are easilly attainable in Korea... don't know about other places... and not all that expensive, but most (if not all of them) only convert the mount, the auto-focus systems will not work...
