couple shots from the first round with the new lens.
no major edits, just converted, slight curves, resized and sharpened for 640px
i like it so far.

Great Lens! I just got mine as well and I love it. Can't show pictures yet because they are in challenges. I bought a 70-200 F4 L also and I love them both. Very sharp images.

i'm happy so far. plan on getting a grip on it over the next couple days. above shots were after work tonight. i was training the dogs as much as shooting...

I have the same setup (10D and 17-40). The 17-40 doesn't come off really except for low-light when I put on my 50 or 24 prime. Otherwise, I just up the ISO.

| I picked up mine from the UPS center yesterday. I only had a chance to fire off a few quick snapshots but so far so good. I can't wait to put it to good use in a couple upcoming model shoots! |

above are my only models - besides myself. but you should have good luck with it - with your models as well... ;}
i was considering the 70-200 f4 L as well, but with a 1.4x extender it becomes too slow. the sigma 70-200 f:2.8 EX DG HSM is likely what i'll end up with unless i buy the canon version non-IS used from a friend.

| with the Amazon double rebates .. I was considering the 17-40 ... but ended up buying the 70-200 f/4 L ... after seeing those shots, I'm putting the 17-40 on the top of my list ... |

f:4 on the wide end is comparable to f:2.8 on the long end. otherwise i would have gone with the 16-25mm 2.8...
buy the 17-40 ;}
i paid $607 with next day shipping.
in all honesty i think you'll end up regreting the 70-200 f:4 - too slow IMO.
the bokeh from the 17-40 is very pretty.

Hurro,
You'll really enjoy this lens, I use mine a lot.... It's paid for itself a few times over, and after the 70-200 is my most used lens.
contrast and colour is great for a wide lens, and it's sharp throughout the range at F/4... Not much more you could ask from it, although on film (Slides in my case) it's a little soft at the corners wide open at 17mm, but nothing to get excited about.
Being an 'L' it's also built like a tank.. Mine has survived the drop test a few times, although I don't recommend it!!! :-).
