Got my Peleng today. Attached the adaptors, hooked it up to my camera, went to take a test shot and got an message on my screen 'No lens attached'...any ideas? It also won't let me change aperture. All I see are dashes...works fine with any other lens.

"No lens attached" is what it should see. There is no electrical connection from the camera to the lens. Aperture control will be manual (ring on the lens) so the camera will be unaware of the aperture setting, thus the "--" in the LCD.

Edit:
I'm assuming it *will* still let you fire the shutter. If so, you are in business. The only other question is metering. Some of the older Nikon DSLRs did not meter with lenses like this. All Canons do, AFAIK. I have no idea about other brands.

Well, my meter does move when I change the aperture ring or shutter speed. But, it won't let me fire. :X

Added: I sent an email to the seller, but being Saturday and Monday a holiday...well.

Hmmm. What happens if you remove the lens entirely. Can you fire the shutter?

perhaps you must select manual focus?

Same thing. I don't think I was ever able to fire without a lens on...never tried.

Tried that also.

Well, it *should* work under some condition; here is a gallery of stuff taken with the Peleng on a 7D.

Edit: I'm wondering if there is some camera menu setting that must be made for it to work?

Have you tried making sure that the camera is in full manual shooting mode? If the dial is in aperture or shutter preferred modes, it may well not fire.

I did. I found an article that says I can disable the 'lens mount check' off. It says it's in the manual, but dang if I can find it.

It's evidently a menu setting. I found this page. Here's an excerpt from a post near the bottom:

For the new 7D you can turn off shutter lock? Menu, (gear), 3rd page. It will now fire the shutter without checking to see if a lens is mounted.
