I am thinking of selling my D70 (I bought it in 2005 and have had no problems with it) and 2 lenses (Nikon 17-80 3.5 and Quantaray 70-300 4.0), a camera bag, a battery, a charger, probably a few filters, and I think that's it. Oh, and I will even pass on the warranty for the D70 - a Mack 5 year I believe.

Would $1000 be too much to ask for that? Is it too little? Also, would be better to get the lenses cleaned before I sell it also?

I really want to upgrade to the D200... but I don't have alot of money. This way, I can get the D200 with the 18-135 nikon lens and will only have to put a few big bucks out. I personally don't use my 70-300 for much at all. So, why keep it if I don't use it? Plus, I am saving for the 70-200 2.8VR.

Like I said, I don't rip anyone off.... but I am dying for a D200!

Thanks!!!

Sounds a little high. How many shutter activations ?

I'd sell the cam body for a few hundered and keep the lenses for your new one....or sell all and buy a "nice" lens!

BH Photo has the body of the D70 used for $419, so $1000 is probably a little high, even with two lenses.... especially if one of them is the kit lens.

hmmm... that is why I wanted to ask. I certainly don't want to rip anyone off.... I just want to see if I am able to get enough money to sink into the D200.

I plan on selling both lenses with D70, since I want the 18-135 and I don't use my 70-300 enough to keep it. I also have a 28-80 2.8 sigma, that I could sell instead of the kit lens... I know that one cost me about $500 when I got it brand new. I still have the Mack warranty on that as well.

You may want to sell the separately. Not sure what a going price would be though.

There are 2 D70s going for $400 on this site right now - and they are having trouble finding buyers.

The kit lens and Quantaray don't sell for much brand new so they're not likely to bump the price up much.

Thanks guys... I guess I was putting a little more faith in getting a little more. Guess I will probably do like $500 maybe $600.. just because I still have the warranties for the camera and one of the lenses.

*sigh* looks like the D200 will have to wait a bit longer. :(

It's worth the wait, ours is fantabulous.

<-- the wife won't let me claim it as mine (damn that mothers day) ;)

to add a little perspective, coming from someone that is even down right desparate to have a decent camera right now- a used D70 for $1000? For about or close to that amount, I could get a brand new D80 or a 30D. And, please, no offense intended, but including a kit lens, and a Quantery lens, really doesn't seem to 'sweeten the deal' much, if you know what I mean. You do have a good point about the warranty, and it should add some value, but still seems a little high.

Good luck!! I'm actually on my church's prayer list to get more paying photography jobs, so I can buy more equipment.

Lorrie - I'd sell them all seperate on E-bay. You will likley get between $400 and $500 for the camera body with warranty and battery. Throw in the bag for good measure.

The lenses will not bring much but will likley bring much more than you'll get pooling them with the body or each other.

When you set up the E-bay listing refer to the other items to get people to look at all them. You will get more bids that way. I have had pretty good luck using E-Bay to sell photo gear. Recently I had two lenses and a D70 body listed. All three sold but the body sale was cancelled by E-bay after getting $485 due to a misuse of account by the winner. Second highest bidder was $470 but E-bay rules did not allow me to offer it to them due to the illegal bidder. I decided to keep mine as a back-up after offering here without much interest.

Good luck.

I feel ya.... short story i wanted to sell mine too for the D200 ( wich my neighbor has and i got to play with it and might i add i LOVED it!! ) but my dog and i were playing in th kitchen and he got my strap wrapped around his neck somehow and pulled the camera off the table BAM hit the ground... with the SB600 locked locked in place. Luckly the only thing that broke was the Sb600 around the base, but nothing some Crazy glue did not fix.... so i will not sell it now cuz i dont want to seel it it if it goes faulty or something ... so i am saving up... Good Luck =)

It looks like you're gonna have to keep the wife.
