Venus has no moons. The fainter object is probably a background star. |

I am new to the forums but I saw this and wanted to let you know I did take a few shots of Moon and Venus last week.
They can be viewed at //photography.jimbrowning.com , which is my new photoblog. I was a professional portrait and school photographer for over ten years but got involved in computers and have only recently decided to get back into the thick of things.
Anyway, there are two different Moon shots for your pleasure.

I was able to capture it in September 2005. Moon, Jupiter, Venus, and Spica. Spica is a star of the first magnitude in the constellation Virgo

wish i could get a shot but .....
i have a 10inch reflector telescope. its a huge, powerful one that i let my boss borrow. Only problem, he left it outside for a few months and the mirror looked like someone dropped dirt on it!! Im too scared to try clean the mirror. |

Your boss sounds like an idiot !
I cleaned my 8 inch mirror with instructions from the web. Search around the web and clean it....no matter what happens....it can't get any worse!

Venus is here, and closer to Earth than ever before, just as the Mayans predicted years ago. Wonder whats in store for us in next few years, the coming of Venus was said to change the Earth's energy grid. Or magnetosphere, that explains all those Aurora's at the poles.... |

It is? |

Yes, it is.. Venus' solar orbit as well as everything in our solar system and outside is continuously getting closer and closer to the sun, sort of like a whirlpool and a piece of matter twirling slowly towards center. But this is over a course of millions of years.

Your interpretation of that article has completely missed the point. Rao's point (and the article is 1.5 years old) has to do with the regular clockwork ongoing motions of the solar systems where faster, inner planets (e.g., Venus) catch up to and "lap" slower, more distant plants (like Earth). Rao says nothing of the objects in our solar system slowly getting closer to the sun over millions of years. To update Rao's article for today, Venus is approaching Earth on the inner track and will eventually pass between the Earth and Sun in August when it reaches inferior conjunction, at which point it will be closest to the Earth. This happens every time the two planets' orbits bring them to conjunction on the same side of the sun. It has nothing to do with the planets' distances from the sun decreasing over time. |

No, I was interpreting what I read according to Mayan doctrines about 2012 and the end of world as we know it. Ignorance will end when Venus draws near. You could all read in detail in the book GAIA 2012. The new energy grid is changing because of planetary alignment which includes the new Earth like planet which just entered our solar system. This alignment is supposed to boost consciousness and awareness.
I guess people will start asking more questions.

no need - it's all on the web
& i can't wait .. for Dec 22, 2012
looks like a way to get people to buy mumbojumbo books --
'chariots of the gods & that ilk'
though the transit of Venus was really neat in 2002...
whatever

But the distance between the planets at the point of conjunction varies with which art of the orbit it occurs in.
I'm not sure how fast the point of Earth-Venus conjunction precesses around their orbits, or at what point it's at now.
