How can you possibly back that statement up?

To do so you would have to know what the person voted and then surmise that what you are advocating is indeed the TRUE reason for the votes they cast.

It may surprise you to know that some people have their scores turned off during voting, while others only vote on challenges they have not entered... Surely you couldn't attribute that reason for any low vote they would have cast, would you?

I am all for accountability, but what you are seeking here goes well beyond what I would suggest are acceptable standards.

I agree, but disagree that you and I can tell other people that they must think like us. Doing that makes us worse than them.

REALLY!!! Am I to conclude that you agree with the basic premise that people vote such scores due to a revenge factor? Do enlighten me as to how you could prove such an outlandish assertion.

As for the "Doing that makes us worse than them"comment, I am to assume that you are ascribing some sort of character flaw to those that vote low scores, regardless of their motives. Should I assume that your option not to tell others what to think somehow makes you a "Better" person than those miscreants that dared give someone a 1 vote.

I have no problem whatsoever with people sharing viewpoints and engaging in discourse, but would not tolerate any situation where I have to justify ever single low score I might give, no more than I am certain people would care to have to justify their reason for giving 9 and 10 scores.

All factors considered, this seems an exercise in futility.

Well... yes, I do think that happens. No, I have no proof.

No, I ascribe no flaws to voters whatsoever. My point is that regardless of their reasons, no matter how outragious you or I may THINK they are, it is their choice how they vote, not ours. In fact, I support their right to vote any way they please regardless what their reasons are.

What is "worse" is trying to control the voters and forcing low scorers to justify their reasons for a 1 or 2 as was originally proposed in this discussion. The original proposal even allowed for removing unsupported scores of 1 or 2. That would allow us to overide their scores.

Quite frankly, I don't support that proposal. Do you?

Not in the least, and I thought I had made that abundantly clear in previous submissions.

It would seem from your comments that we are on the same page on this one.

Thanks. I thought we were on the same page but was beginning to wonder. :)

when someone votes a 1 or 2 they should be required to give a reasonable reason. "i hate trees" or "i hate ducks" isnt a reasonable reason to give that low of a score. the photographer could then see a weird comment report it and if SVC sees its paired with the 1 or 2 could then remove that vote. It would discourage a lot in my opinion.

And would the same be required when giving a 10 vote? After all, no photo is PERFECT, and "I love it" isn't a reasonable reason to give that high of a score.
We have a full range of 1 to 10 available for voting. It's foolish and, IMO wrong) to tell anyone they're not allowed to use it. Kind of like giving a kid a candybar and telling them they can only eat the middle third?
