I am a person who's wondering about a LOT of things in life..

And where else to ask your weirdest questions then on DPC?

Right.

1 - Where does the name "thumbnail" come from?

2 - Why won't my legs tan as fast as my arms / shoulders / back?

3 - Why don't cats like to be in the car?

Ask and answer!

1 - the fingernail on your thumb
2 - your body blocks the sun from getting there
3 - cats are from the devil, and cars represent prison, and Satan hates prison

1. Thumbnail also means anything small or brief
2. Lower moisture content slows tanning.
3. Invalid premise. Not all cats dislike being in the car.

1 - Ok, I didn't know that!

2 - Allright, but when I am really taking the time to lay in the sun and get my legs in the sun too, THEY WON'T GET BROWN! (aaaargh! frustrating!)

3 - hmm. our cats don't like it. they growl like dogs..

1. Parents who named their other kid "elbow".
2. Legs are already dark meat while breasts are white meat. (at least on a chicken) It's harder to make brown browner than it is to make white browner.
3. The dogs keep mooning them.

this would have been a homerun if you just let us believe you were talking about people for a while ... then hit us with the truth.

:)

I had a cat once that love to ride in the car she would sit in my back window when I drove around.

1 - No idea

2 - Traditionally the arms are in more view of the sunlight than your legs (short sleeve shirts, as apposed to pants in other words creates more melenomoa(spl?) skin pigment stuff. Your shoulders and Back are high points and take the direct rays of the sun. Thats why lifeguards can get burns on their knee's because when sitting the knee becomes a high point for direct light. Now, look at the spots that are high spots for sun rays, they are more flat with higher surface area to direct sunlight as apposed to the curves of ones arms and legs.

3 - Cats are free spirited animals, they do not like to be out of control, and riding in a vehicle is extremely out of control of their situation, so they highly dislike it.

1. why does monosyllabic have 5 syllables?

2. why do we park in a driveway and drive on a parkway?

3. why can we be overwhelmed but not underwhelmed, or just whelmed?

3. We can't?

un·der·whelm (ŭn'dər-hwělm', -wělm')
tr.v. un·der·whelmed, un·der·whelm·ing, un·der·whelms
To fail to excite, stimulate, or impress

whelm (hwělm, wělm)
tr.v. whelmed, whelm·ing, whelms

1. To cover with water; submerge.
2. To overwhelm.

So you have to do math to figure out how many pkgs of each you need to match the numbers. It's a common sales ploy. j/k ;o)

2 packs of hot dogs, 1 pack of 8 and one pack of 12 buns. But look at all you end up buying. Either that you buy one pack of hot dogs and a 12 pack of buns and waste 2 buns.

Hmmmmm....

Why does my self-cleaning oven lock when I press the clean button? Is it so I can't see the naked maid running around in there?

They expect at least one of them buggers to commit suicide and roll off the grill or down into it and you have to eat one while cooking to make sure they are done and you can't tell if you got a bun on it. So it all evens out. (yes I know they are technically "done" before cooking but you know where I'm going with it.)

As for the hair thing cindi...it's cause as we age we get smarter so the brain grows so it pushes the hair out...stop laughing it could be true! :D
